Forums - Gaming - Shivers down your spine - what games made you FEEL?

The fervent gamers on this site will surely know what I'm talking about - when did you actually 'feel' something at a certain moment in a game? Were you feeling entirely happy, at peace, or literally bouncing up and down with excitement? And if so, tell us what game, where, and why? My list:

-Zelda: Twilight Princess. I got the Wii and the first thing I did after school was install it and play some Wii Sports to get a proper feel of it. Then, when I had played all sports at least once, I finally got round to putting Zelda inside. I looked at the totally-new-to-me Wii menu, went to the Disc Channel, and saw the title screen and the gorgeous music of Zelda... I simply felt the shivers crazing up and down my spine. And not just that once, I had that feeling the next ten times I played it too.

-Super Mario Galaxy. All sensible people (flamebait!) will probably recognize the unadulterated happiness that took control of you when exploring those first galaxies. A standout for me was unlocking the Red Star in the Gateway Galaxy and taking flight. I've flown in games before (hell, even SM64 had flying) but the way it looked and felt was totally unique. I went all hyperactive because of the excitement.

-Tales of Symphonia. The most intricately woven story I've ever seen in a game to date. When you go to the Tower of Salvation and it is revealed that Kratos is a traitor and a Seraphim... maybe some of you saw it coming, but I didn't, and I was totally blown away. Man I was so addicted to that game two years ago. It had more moments like that. And the music at the credits... man it was astounding.

-Some of the later songs in Ocarina of Time (the ones you use to warp to the temples) were so beautiful that they could totally stun me. Entering the Spirit Temple is another unforgettable experience.

-The fans know what I'm talking about: completing the harder puzzles in Zack & Wiki is a wonderful feeling.

-As much as I was disappointed by the game, the opening soundtrack of Metroid Prime 3 got me excited.

-The music in the ice castle of Paper Mario 64 has never gotten out of my head. Simple, yet pretty dark and moody for a Mario game.

I still hope - though it may never happen - that one day there will be a game that makes me cry. Have any of you ever cried over a game? (Can't imagine it, but maybe some game I don't know)

I drink your milkshake.

no i havent cried but the ending to ff 10 pissed me off then sent shivers down my back thinking he might still be alive

I cried when Sephiroph (sp?) killed Aeris. Any gamer worth their weight in gold knows what game this is from.

^yeah that was kinda sad

I cried through the ending of 'Shadow of the colossus'

I've never had a game make me "feel", but Resident Evil 4 made me say "Holy shit this is awesome" quite a few times during my initial playthrough.

I cried out of frustration when I was 8 playing Mortal Kombat II for the Genesis and blame Midway for their choice of tricky "Read every move and counter it" AI in that game.

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

The only game that made me feel sad of close to tears was the ending of FFIX when I found out the Vivi had "expired". That crushed me.

I got really angry a couple time while playing Xenogears when you kept finding out about these terrible things the government was doing and also what had happened/happening to Fei.

Resident Evil 2 also genuinely scared the crap out of my on multiple parts of the game. Even the third and fourth time through with a friend we were going for the unlockablse so doing speed runs without saving, so we knew the game fairly well and knew when stuff would jump out at us. Even though we knew it was coming when that giant guy would bust through the wall at us we both jumped and often dropped the contoller.

Nothing in the last 5 years has given me that feeling. I hope its cuase the games just arnt moving me and not because i've outgrown or become desensitized to it.

I've never had a game really make me feel, maybe i'm on dead on the inside?

^i dont know the part in bioshock where you get told, a slave obeys......that sF moment down my back

to this day still sends shivers down my back and makes me want to turn lights on
