added a poll to see where people stand on this.
Should the New 3DS XL come with power supply? | |||

It's a silly decision but if it's the same charger as the other 3DSes and DSi you can probably just get a used one or ask people you know to give you a spare one.
Honestly, no one should be saying No in that poll. Why would anyone not want a "free" charger?
A better poll might be like, does it affect your buying decision as to whether or not you will get n3ds

At least that had precedent though. Both the PS1, and PS2 required memory cards for save files. And the same can be said for the N64 and GC. |
Precedent must start somewhere and if you look at Europe, there is your start. That said I agree it is a poor choice on Nintendo's part.
But who knows what all it saves ... obviously it saves on the cost of the part and cost of shipping units (the adapter is light but it does weigh something multiply that weight by units shipped ...you see where I'm going). There could also be savings in packaging and the total size of the carton (i.e. its footprint in a shipping box and on store shelves). ect, ect. All that said Nintendo has to weigh that against the consumer backlash (i'm sure there will be some, but I don't know how much). They are not in the same position as Microsoft and Sony (i.e. other department to back any losses from the gaming division), they still have investors to keep happy and this is one of the areas they can make a difference. Considering Iwata's not taking a bonus or cutting his own pay until they return to profitability, I can personally forgive the company and it's leadership this transgression .
| PixelPerfect said: I don't see why they wouldn't include it and it seems like a pretty crappy practice since it makes you pay extra unless you already own a DSi or 3DS. I hope that they change their decision or include them with more shipments since I know a lot of people who are upset about this. |
See my other post for how I feel about this ... however let me offer up a different perspective.
It is costing new customers the exact same amount, while saving existing / upgrading customers money ...
No because it should be optional.
I don't need ANOTHER one.....

Thats a tad harsh, the NES thrived on games without saves =P

Do most PS Vita games give you progress codes? You're correct the NES did run games without saves ... until the Legend of Zelda. ;)
