Forums - Nintendo - Sega: 'Dismissing Wii as only casual is a mistake'

I'm pretty pleased with Sega's effort on the Wii so far - they seem to be getting back to what they did best and although Mario and Sonic did have Mario in it to help sales and all that it's still a fine game that deserves it's place in my collection (I always said which game would come that would stop me playing Wii sports when wii newcomers come around and M&S did it).

Top that off with the legs S&SR is showing, Sega Tennis getting warm reviews with Nintendo Power liking it and videos showing it has familiarities to Virtual Tennis - they're ticking a few boxes for me personally.

Sega should really look at nintendo's business model and remake its old games with wii controls. They have much deeper library of classics than Sony or Microsoft and shouldn't bother with new unproven games like the Club.

If i magically became president of Sega these would be my priorities:
- Vectorman game in the style of metroid prime for the wii...
-3D but old school remake of Streets of rage for xbox live(like the new bionic commando remake)
- New Golden Axe action rpg for wii like Soul Calibur legends but actualygood (looks like someone at sega still knows what they are doing as this is getting made for xbox and ps3)
- House of dead collection(hehe again)
- Shenmue 3 for PS3 and 360
- Eternal champions...hopping on the SF4 bandwagon of 3D but 2D
- Shinobi in Ninja Gaiden vain

And to cover the expenses of making awesome games that no one will buy... as Sega of before used to...I'd sell Sonic rights to EA...they are a good match at this point in their careers.

Are you kidding disolitude? The Golden Axe game for PS3 and 360 looks AWFUL. They got rid of co-op and left you with nothing but the chick so they could stick her in a bikini and make it Heavenly Sword 2. Nothing but boobs and hack-and-slash. Considering the co-op was the entire appeal of the arcade original this sequel has no right to bear the Golden Axe name.

I want skies of arcadia 2 sooooooo bad maybe even a little more than brawl.

Lol Naznatips. I didn't see the game yet...I just know its getting made. Sorry...I simply didn't know... :)

Joking aside...Shenmue 3 I think could be made as an xbox 360 exclusive or something. Have microsoft split the cost as its a Japan console seller.

I'd love a Shenmue 3 and a Skies of Arcadia 2. I'd rather Shenmue 3 be made on a console that has a chance in Japan though so its fanbase will at least get to play it.

Don't get me wrong, I'd buy a Jaguar for the game if they were going to make it for that...
But I don't think Yu Suzuki has the support of the company anymore to be dedicated such a lavish budget. And sony or nintendo will most likely not bother securing an exclusive deal for that type of game.
Microsoft however could give them some financial support for exclusivity rights and completely expand its audience in North America. Market it as a FPS game...lol

Well one advantage to making it on the Wii would be that they wouldn't need a lavish budget.  Heck, they could use the engine they had for the Xbox version of Shenmue 2 with a few upgrades.

@ naznatips

Hmm...do you think a game like this would sell on the wii? I am asking as I just can't tell if it will be looked as another No More Heroes or as a sequel to one of the most creative games last gen. It would be great though...they could throw in some bonus games in the arcade like before. Virtua Cop maybe with the wiimote...

With the low budget of the wii they should make both hardcore and casual games, but is all working for them why should they change that O_O, I mean they didn't get 22 millions sells of a mistake :P
