Forums - Gaming - So I finally played Ground Zeroes... *maybe spoilers*

for about $6 on PS3.  Much better price than the original.

I'm not really sure what to think about it right now.  The story mission for rescuing Paz seemed pretty good overall.  Very intensive story and emotionally complex.  I have a complaint though about the spatial awareness of the game.  Marking enemies is a nice feature, but the area is huge.  It's easy to pigeonhole yourself watching the enemies you marked and not realize that you missed an enemy or two who could give away your position.  The reflex option is a nice remedy to this I suppose...

I predict this will be a problem for some in MGS5.  Unless you can get all of the enemies in an area, the ones you marked all of a sudden pose as a distraction...although I could have sworn while interrogating one he gave me several enemy positions but I don't remember for certain.

Leaving aside any price you paid for Ground Zeroes, what did you guys think about the demo?

I thought it was really great and truly show cased what MGS V will be capable of! Great soundtrack, great graphics, great gameplay, and etc! Yes, the launch price sucked for those who bought it (thankfully I didn't till PC release) but it was still a pretty great experience even though it wasn't worth the launch price at all

I just went in guns blazing and was fine. Didn't die once on Hard mode. The AI isn't really formidable with the reflex mode hax.

I didn't know this at the time, but apparently you can turn off independent of difficulty settings. When I get around to actually playing MGS5, I'm definitely turning all that off. Literally makes the game a cake walk with them on. I'm sure turning the training wheels off will fix that, though.

I thought the cutscenes were really cool even though there wasn't much story there. I've never played any of the games, but I know the running plot to the series roughly so I'm not really worried about getting lost.

I always hear people talking about how complicated the control schemes are for these games, but this one felt pretty simple to get a playing understanding of. I don't know if they standardized the control scheme or something, but it aside from some tiny quirks, it only took me like 5 minutes to get used to all the controls I used in the demo.

Everything felt solid. (sorry) I liked the controls. I like how the combat felt. I pretty much killed everyone, so I don't know how the stealth is because I clearly didn't need it. It was just a solid (sorry) demo. I'm still not excited for the game, but since my friend will have it anyway, and I didn't hate it, there's no reason for me not to play it.

Ah, I always play stealth in MGS games. If it's that easy if you're going in guns blazing, geez..
