No.

Geil is extremely cheap, having 4 gb of those is not impressive. They also tend to not run properly below 2.0v. Don't reset your bios ever the unless you know how to change it.

A AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ is ancient in pc terms.

Keyboard is ok, mouse sucks balls if you want some serious gaming.

8600 GT, wtf? Low end card for such a price?

I suggest taking your money, look for an online store and put a pc together yourself. If you can plug in cables, read a manual and put a few screws into a case it's the way cheaper solution.

Short summary, that pc sucks.

PSN name: Gazz1979 (feel free to add me, but please put your Vgchartz name in the message!)

Battlefield 2: Gazz1979

why would you need a good pc if you got the cell?

also lol @ the Geil thing..

@neos,

was that really needed?

@legend92,

As far as price is concerned its really not a great deal, but if you are uncomfortable with or simply don't know how to build your own it won't be nearly as bad.

To state it plainly I can build a strictly better PC for probably just over half the cost but that involves building everything from parts.

PS - Why are there two different PSUs listed?

I have to agree about Geil, its not on my list of RAM brands I buy and one of the major reasons for that is that they don't offer a lifetime warranty like other companies do. I would highly suggest something from Kingston, Corsair, Buffalo, or A-Data that has a lifetime warranty..as a general fact of life companies only offer lifetime warranties on fairly reliable products and with how cheap DDR2 800 is right now there is no excuse not to get good quality DDR2 800.

Now, the 6000+ may have been out for a while but it still holds its own quite well compared to the other stuff on the market. As you can see from the link below pretty much the only things above it are quad cores.

If you want cutting edge brand new parts and are willing to pay there are better parts than the 6000+ but if you want a mid to high end part at a great price the X2 lineup is a fantastic choice.

Again I agree with Gazz, the 8600 is simply a horrible card to go with right now, there are a lot of better choices that will yield vastly superior performance and keep you well within your price range.

As for Gazz's idea of building one yourself, if you don't have someone around who can give you pointers and help out you might be in for a world of frustration. The whole task is extremely simple once you understand what is involved but it can be quite intimidating for someone going through it their first time. If you do elect to go this route I can try to help you if you get stuck but there is no gaurantee I will be online when you need your help. Hopefully someone here can help you when you need it.

I'm not familiar with PC parts prices in Australia and the value of Australian $ so I don't know if its a good or bad deal...

I'd suggest go with Intel Core 2 CPUs and a mid-high Video card.
So many people think 8600 is a decent choice and everytime someone corrects them lol.

crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.

It looks like most of the C2D dual cores beat it as well though.

That makes me want to get a new processor - I only have a 3800x2.  Curse you AMD and your socket change to AM2!

Interestingly, just recently (like since I posted that) C2D prices have come down enough to make them worthwhile. Specifically the 6750 on newegg right now is the first time I've seen one competitively priced against the 6K+ X2.

Prices have been really whacky all over the place actually. Just for example the E6700 is at $330 on newegg but the E6750 is at $190..../boggle.

So long as prices stay in that range C2Ds are the way to go.
