Forums - Nintendo Discussion - POTENTIAL MEGATON: Xenoblade Chronicles X to run at 60fps?!?!

Is the potential framerate for a game really a megaton? Has the world become that dull?

The world has become 30fps dull.

1080p 60 fps ? If that happen I skip the ps4 and Xbox this gen and just join nintendo.

Obviously not, more like 720p and 30fps.

Still get a Wii U for this game though. :)

I might get this game anyway Because it remind  me with gundam.

could you give examples of these "ps360 games with way better char models"?

Other than the ones already given? Red Dead Redemption, Resident Evil 5-6, the newer AC games, TLOU of course, Beyond 2 Souls, Final Fantasy 13, MGS 4 etc.

Can't see it. Resident evil 5 was the closest one.

Besides Beyond Two Souls all those games look horrible. Though you didn't use a good pic for TLOU lol.

Elma's 3d model, wich seems to be the best in XCX so far, doesn't have low polygon areas (except the hair, maybe) and doesn't have blurry texture parts either. general XCX characters are also superior to general/above general ps360 characters.

I'd argue that the textures and level of geometry seem lower in the best XCX character models vs those PS3 exclusive character models or the scenery, but XCX is an open world game, made on a system with about 2X the horsepower of PS3 and more modern feature set, so you can't expect better IQ than the best linear PS3 titles in an open world game on Wii U.

IQ? we weren't talking about artificial inteligence but it should be easy to get better AI than ps360 games. also, wii u should have at least 3x the horsepower of ps3, otherwise it wouldn't be running it's games as it is..

Image Quality, but he used it in the wrong context for whatever reason.

Image Quality actually fits in that context perfectly, it relates to anything to do with an images quality, the level of Texture Details, Geometry (otherwise known as Polygons), any filtering (Anti Aliasing, Depth of Field, anisotropic filtering).

Image quality in graphics usually refers to how much the image degraded. It has nothing to do with texture polygons or geometry. It has to do with clarity of the image and the elimination of artifacts, such as aliasing or tearing.

Image quality is the whole range of things that relates to how a picture looks, that relates to the overall level of detail you're seeing, picture degradation would be a part of that.

Perhaps if you were using IQ in a topic like Camera or Film you'd be talking about the level of artifacts in the image or filtering, but when you're talking about a video game or perhaps a movie visual effect, like a CG thing then Image Quality is a fitting term and it works fine in that context.

Since there is no dictionary definiton that applies to image quality of video games and movies I can't appeal to that. However, I will say that the overwhelming majority of people when speaking of a video game, define image quality as the level of degredation in the image, caused by artifacts and resolution. That is how Digital Foundry uses it, that is how most people on gaming forums use it, and that is how developers use it. Often you see disusssion about the tradeoff between "image quality" and "other graphical features." There a plethora of articles about this. I can't think of a single other time I've seen it refer to all graphical features, as you seem to use it.

Eh, I do statistical work (amongst other things) for the history department at a university. Anything with more than 0.5% range of error is dismissed by the software we work with. In no field is an error of 20% allowed, that's just sloppy math.

The Eryth sea is by far the biggest area in the game lol. Did you play it? Because I got a copy two weeks ago. World is bigger than skyrim but you run a lot faster than in that game.

And the final part of your post makes no sense. I believe in what of 25 millon?

You're confused. Most fields use 0.5 which is 5% not .5%. 10% is also widely accepted.

Edit: I'm studying biostatistics and sc9 knows what he's talking about.

For the record.

No, XCX will not be 60fps.

Yes, there are PS3/360 games with better character models.

No, XCX could not be done on PS3/360.

Pretty much this. Could XCX be done on the PS3/360? No, obviously not. Could specific parts (such as models, local assets etc) be done on the PS3/360 in the right types of game? Of course.

It's not possible to excel in every graphical respect when you're working with static hardware.

Funny thing is, no matter if the game is 30fps or 60, it looks way more next-gen than almost any other game on more powerful hardware.

I doubt it.
