http://kotaku.com/364453/thq-boss-says-wii-hasnt-won-just-yet

Speaking earlier today at the - where else - Morgan Stanley Technology Conference, THQ boss Brian Farrell has said that while the Wii's been going gangbusters so far during this console generation, it doesn't have things sewn up just yet:

...the way we're thinking about this cycle from a high level is, the Wii at that lower price-point had a lot of momentum early in the cycle, but as Sony and Microsoft come down the price curve those two should accelerate, and there's a lot of firepower left in their arsenal...

He goes on to say that because of this, they're expecting one loooong, successful hardware cycle, as cheaper 360s and PS3s make it more of an even fight. Can't say I can see that actually happening, but gee, wouldn't it be lovely if it did?

So does this lends to the credence that some thirds are not only slow to adapt to the Wii, but are actually hoping it'll lose and fall out later this generation?

He's not wrong, but you can't ignore that Wii will only grow higher as well, especially as they still have supply issues.

Aren't THQ kind of a mini EA? The people who buy lots of small devs and have the rights to a certain set of names from a sport and as such abuse it for all its worth?

If I have the right people, I honestly don't give a shit what they think

THQ has a reason for this. Hasn't their Wii titles sold poorly?

May I also add that their new project for the Wii is All-Star Cheerleading for the Wii balance board?

Doubting Wii was so last year. Now Developers just poop on it.

They're also making De Blob and Deadly Creatures, which are far more interesting projects to people who frequent this site. They also just published a new Kill All Humans title for Wii.

It's hard to criticize THQ for not bringing big, AAA-quality IPs to the Wii, because they don't really deal in that kind of game. They're a mid-tier developer, and their support for Wii has been modest, but I think they're ahead of the curve compared to a lot of other 3rd-party publishers.

Edit: A quick scan of the games database shows 17 Wii titles published or in development, compared with 9 for PS3 and 19 for X360. Plenty of dubious shovelware on all platforms. Besides Smackdown vs. Raw, which sold well on all platforms, their only solid success of the generation has been Saints Row on X360.

I think they're wisely trying to cover all the bases and I don't think they're really shorting the Wii that much at all.

He makes it sound as if Wii can't drop in price and has no games coming

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

he's not really doubting the wii. just saying that the ps3 and 360 will give it a better run for it's money once they drop in price. it's true, they will.
