Forums - Gaming - Square Enix western releases...from failure to prolific.

Square enix mentioned in 2013 that its western games did subpar.  That lead  me to believe that they were done with the AAA game for the western market.  Come 2015, they seem to be back on the warpath producing large budget, AAA western games:

Just Cause 3

New Hitman

Tomb Raider

Life is Strange

potential new Sleeping Dogs

Why the seachange?  And will these game setup up the eventual downfall of Square Enix that I keep reading on forums?

Around the Network

They will never abandon western games. They bought those developers for a reason. By now they should've been able to make their development processes more efficient so that new games require less sold copies to make a profit.

You mean they should cost less money to make. Tomb Raider cost 5 times as much as Uncharted 2 but nowhere was it 5x the game in neither graphics or content. Squeenix has a budget problem.

Got to spend that mobile money they are making on something
