A few days before the X1 launch there, MS delayed it saying they weren't ready yet and said they would release it by the end of the year. And then a week later it officially came out there. It must be some government issue that causes this delay a few days before launch, and so I don't think this PS4 delay will be very long.

It's a new market, now one knew what the volume would be.
200K is nowhere near to be "low", it's almost what they did in Japan and that's by far the biggest Asian market.
But it seems like they, as MS, had a plan B, and are putting it into action, with extending the pre-order time by delaying the console and being able to ship more.
The most the console is delayed, the most the demand is growing I would say. (well, until some point where the daley would start being troublesome).

Pre-orders were stopped.

Well yeah. It's probably because of the region free, because players could get games who are not "right to play" for the chinese gouvernment .

So is there any more news on this? Thought it'd be a similar delay as the xbox but its going into its third week with no sign of a release yet.

From what I understand. Sony got the official ok to release a region free PS4's. That is the only reason they were going to release the console in China. After stores started recieving the console a Chinese netizen filed a complaint to the Beijing Bureau of Culture Affairs.  Time went by until the goverment got to the complaint, after reviewing the complaint the goverment had a change of heart and decided that Lio Ruizhe point was valind and the PS4 should have the same restrictions and/or region locking the Xbox One provides. Unlike the Xbox One, the PS4 had no region locking/drm system/strategy waiting in the wings. It seems like neither side has budged since this friction arose, and since Sony doesn't have an abundance of supply, this isn't as high of a priority for Sony.

After the losses and trouble Sony had regarding the PS2 in China, I think we have a text book example of a stalemate.
