I think this thread is supposed to be about things we want. No one wants that.

The only thing that Nintendo needs to do in regards of their next console is this;...

...just be normal for once in your life. Jesus fucking Christ. Please. Let the games be unique, not the system. Fans like me don't need to suffer just because you want to keep "innovating" or keep wanting to believe that you actually are.

I'm now filled with determination.

true.  While I have love Smash, MK8, and DKCTF I can't see where they'll go from here.  I mean they're about as pretty as they can be being that Nintendo has such a simple art style.  You can only make things so bright.  I think they ditch the gamepad (honestly a controller like the pro with analogue triggers and the sticks where DS4 has them would be great), make the cheapest system by a wide margin, and continue offering weird stuff along with their standbyes makes them some money as long as they sell at a profit.  Also maybe focus all your development on either handheld or console since they have to support the system basically by themselves now.  I don't like handhelds so I would definitely want that focus to be on home consoles also I think handhelds are on their way out due to the kids all being on phones now.

I want it to be a standard console with no gimmicks. Let it be third party friendly in every way possible! Make it x86, make it be close to the ps5/x2 and offer it at a lower price to the consumers! Also have a great yet standard controller with the 80 hour battery and triggers that don't suck.

But, with that being said, keep the gamepad as an optional accessory! Nintendo has created miiverse and there are some truly awesome art on there so do not get rid of that cause miiverse really makes Nintendo's online community quite unique and creative (with the exception of the Nazi mods).

And also, keep the online free. Please, keep it free! Make it better but please go Steam's route and let it be free! Please oh please, keep it free cause I do not want to buy MK9 or MK10 and have the online be stuck behind this nonsense, mandatory paywall

Also, try to keep Backwards compatibility. Find a way to Emulate wiiU games and I do think its possible even with a different architecture if they try hard enough and if its powerful enough! I think if their next console is close to the ps5/x2, the jump will be great enough to make it work. And, that way, you can also sell your gamepad accessory that I mentioned pretty well cause certain wiiU games will need the gamepad to work to maybe have like a symbol somewhere that says it

And finally, do not fuck up the name and do not fuck up the launch and do not fuck up the marketing. Call it Nintendo Revolution or something awesome and advertise it like a whore advertising her sexy body

I agree with this, pretty much this is what Nintendo needs to do if they want to keep being relevant in a big way in the future.

I'm now filled with determination.

1. Make the gamepad smaller. The next gamepad should be no bigger than a Vita, but should still retain the relative form factor of a standard controller. If the Wii U gamepad is shaped like the wii classic controller, the next gamepad should be shaped like the classic controller pro. And make the touch screen multitouch. All that will make it both cheaper and more appealing to core gamers.

2. Include a pro controller too. It appeals to families who want multiple controllers for classic local multiplayer games, and it appeals to core gamers who'd still like a standard controller to use. Nintendo should have included two controllers in it's consoles ages ago, but especially here.

3. A decent amount of power put into the gamepad for OS features. You should be able to get completely explore notifications on the gamepad like you would a phone. If someone sends you a message/invite/anything, there should be a small notification on the TV, but a more detailed notification on the gamepad. If you click on the notification, you can respond in real time. Send a reply message the same way you'd type a text on a phone. Respond to an invite in real time on the gamepad without interrupting play. They already took the first step with the TV button, but they need to take it further.

THAT'S how you innovate with the gamepad. You should be able to do all that on the gamepad without needing to touch the pause button. Make it smaller. Make it more comfortable. Make it mandatory, but secondary. And make it useful. Innovate with firmware, and use the gamepad to extend that. The chat system alone would be revolutionary, especially in online games.

4. Completely innovate the OS and firmware. It should be revolutionary for gaming. You should be able to have multiple digital games open at once. You should be able to browse the internet on the gamepad while the game is still running on the TV. Themes should have been there yesterday, and you should be able to make your own. Everything should be extremely quick.

5. No x86 if that means no backwards compatability. That's just not acceptable. Make it ARM if that's what neds to happen. I don't know what's better for price; $300 or $400. If it's $300, it can still be slightly more powerful than the PS4 and remain the "affordable" console, but if it's $400, that extra $100 can give it a very nice difference in performance and make it far more "premium." Especially if they don't include an internal harddrive that would drive up the price and lower the performance.

Surprise me. I can handle it.

I'd have to agree that the online interface, particularly in terms of friend interaction, needs to be revamped. There's a wealth of social connections on the service, but because they're locked away in Miiverse it makes it cumbersome to interact freely with your friends on the fly. The light on the pad lights up...and half the time I have no idea why.

Regarding making the gamepad smaller...hmmm...I can't really see why this would be necessary. I don't think that shrinking it is going to make a "core" player somehow feel more comfortable with liking it. At that point you're sacrificing the excellent design just for the potential that it won't bother someone as much.

I do think that a pro controller should be included in the box.

Oh...and how could I forget...give it an ethernet port already!

-Being able to read DVDs. At this point, the technology for that has to be cheap and easy to do.
-A bigger inner memory. 32 gb are going to be ridiculous entering the next gen. At least 200-300 gb minimum.
-Stop multiplying the controllers: there's the GamePad, the Wiimote and nunchuck, the classic controller wii, the pro controller wiiu, the GC adaptor... I'm not saying that they should stop supporting them, but they might prefer making only one controller and sticking with it.

Yes!!! And it would be good if you can also watch it on the gamepad! And if there will be multiple gamepads, it would be cool if it allows you to watch the same movie on all of the 4 gamepads =D

Why wouldn't u just use a TV to watch it? 4 people watching the same movie, at the same place but all watching a different screen would be very strange.

1 - It would be portable ( watch it in the toilet or while taking a bath )

2 - A family might only have 1 TV, so it would be cool if they can easily put it on the game pad and watch from there.

These little things can make a product feel much more unique.
