PS Now doesn't need some sort of online authentication? I thought it did.

I know that when Sony bought Gaikai they also bought their world wide servers too. Perhaps PSN and Gaikai DO need to shake hands but I'd say it would be easy to make the authenticifation system separate. After all, it's only checking your username and your previous purchases via PSNow. It's not having to verify any information from PSN. It HAS to work separately because of the number of none Sony devices they intend to extend it to.
