I'd be surprised if the PS4 price dropped. Apparently RAM prices are going up.

RAM prices are going down big time for the PS4 GDDR5 but they are actually going to go up for the X1's GDDR3.
OT: PS4 is absolutely cruising.

You meant the X1's DDR3. :P |
ahahahahahahhaaa.
that's the worst typo ever. :D

Oh wow. Is MS ever going to catch a break when it comes to the X1. It seems they've made nothing but bad choice after bad choice when it comes to that console.

Can you explain why? I'm really not very knowledgable when it comes to that stuff.

This is the improvement that will make PS4 RAM a lot cheaper among other improvements.

can't find a link for the reason xbox's ddr3 is going to get more expensive but the reason was due to the expected decline in demand for it as the industry is moving on from it. less demand equals higher costs to make and less money

DDR4 RAM is around the corner. When new RAM technology becomes the standard, the price of the previous generation RAM goes up (and quite significantly, too). When DDR3 became the standard, the price of DDR2 went up. GDDR5 RAM, in contrast, does not have this problem.

I expect it to get higher the closer we get to The Order releasing, but then again we'll probably have a The Order bundle vying for a higher place. And then we have Bloodborne ... Things are looking rosy for the first three months of the year.

CGI-Quality said: Mhm. This is the same company I saw during the PS2 era - strategic. They'll cut prices when necessary (though I expect a full $100 cut, when they do). |
Have you quoted the wrong post? I didn't mention a price cut! lol

CGI-Quality said: Nope. I added to your thoughts that things are: "looking rosey". I was agreeing and saying they're being strategic, meaning, them not cutting the price in 2014 was a smart move, and that when they do, they will cut it by $100 for a far stronger impact, continuing on that strategic path. |
Ah, got ya. Yes, it's likely they'll want to make a big impact with a price drop and not just 'sustain' momentum so a big cut is likely. I would say though -- although it's not something I'm banking on -- it's worth noting the recent rumours and images of a slim. IF that's true (huge IF) then perhaps we're seeing a slight shift in strategy. A slim would increase momentum approaching the holiday season and Sony could easily match 2014 in sales and then a price cut come Q2 of 2016 could mean they also match 2014 in 2016. A BIG three year push would put them in an unbeatable position and give developers no choice put to make the PS4 the main platform to create games for. I think Sony have a three year, go hard as hell strategy.
