Probably. Plus, the X1 doesn't have a slew of new software releasing that the PS4 won't also see, unlike the latter. So, they'll probably a week to two week boost and not much else. The NA baseline will be raised, however. |
Look how slow it's taking the XB1 to climb the charts. All the while PS4 is still at 5. If this was having a huge affect, it would of went near the top immediately just like it did in November. So just like i told you guys, i bet it will have a boost for a week then go back down just like what happened with the $399 XB1.
And i know this is a Amazon thread, but PS4 is ahead of XB1 on Bestbuys charts.

This bodes well for the theory that the $329 and $349 holiday price cuts, which were heavily promoted, probably moved forward a fair number of baseline sales into Nov/Dec from future months. IOW : grabbing customers with the "buy it now!" lure, which means those same customers aren't going to buy another one in Jan/Feb/etc.
So the baseline may look unnaturally bleak for X1 even at $349 for a little while, then rebound to a more stable but somewhat mediocre month to month figure.
It's nearly a foregone conclusion that PS4 @ $399 will outsell X1 @ $349 with the games releasing in Q1, Q2, Q3. Q4 MS should be ready to compete again for the #1 spot.

So it looks like the X1's baseline will be lower than the PS4's despite having a $50 price advantage. And this is before PS4 begins to have The Order: 1886, Bloodborne, MLB 15: The Show, etc. to temporarily boost sales.

and Walmart
Also not that Wlmart is refering to the new price as a "Rollback" not a "Special Buy" which indicates a perm price drop. At the very least, this indiates that no known end for this price point.
yep the xbox one fell even with 2 games. ps4 only has 1 game and still at 399
Is the XBO price drop official or is it again a "temp" promotion?
Seems like to me it would have made sense keeping it temp until April, bring it back to normal price for the low sales summer months and then giving it an official cut for next Winter spurring on massive sales again
