Forums - Sales - Square Enix Annual Report

http://www.hd.square-enix.com/eng/pdf/ar_2014_01en.pdf

Interesting read, some notable stuff:

  • Sales of FFX/X-2 HD, Thief and Tomb Raider Definitive Edition were better than expected
  • Final Fantasy XIV, XI & Dragon Quest X maintain nearly 1 million subscribers all together.
  • They're interested in variable pricing models along with F2P games to the "HD game area" as they feel there are some serious flaws on the disc sales model
  • Hitman GO not a major hit, nonetheless happy with the reviews
Just skimmed through it so far.

I'm currently reading through it to see if it has anything telling about anything I'm hoping to see.

They can have their mobile market, but while they might get some decent sales in it based on a model that must have a payment of some form directly to SE rather than a used game sell to Gamestop, I have to question how many people will actually try out these games and then stay with them as returning customers.

"Sales of FFX/X-2 HD, Thief and Tomb Raider Definitive Edition were better than expected"

So did they finally learn to make accurate sales projections to not be so disappointed again?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Sony still owns 8% of shares. I thought they wreee going to sell them.

Edit: nvm its as of 2014. Not anymore I guess. They should update.

I hope they hurry up and release Dragon Quest to the west. I'm sure it would become 2m subscribers.

They should release the last remant HD collection and give this game another chance, such a shame so much money into it invested.
