Ok, believe what you want. I don't have to prove myself to you guys.

But how does that logic not make sense?

It has more to do with your posts that spans this entire year than just this thread for the record.

Its not logical because if your a fan of Xbox then you dont want them to seperate from what makes them successful in the first place.

I don't see any benefit in MS selling off their most recognisable brand after Windows and something that can also act as a trojan horse for other MS software & Services such as Outlook, Bing, Cortana etc.

Yes it's 'losing' to PS4 but Windows phones are 'losing' to Android and iPhone... but that doesn't mean it's not profitable and successful.

They just had their best year launch in Xbox history. Why in the world are we having this conversation?

Isn't this then the perfect time to sell it? At the height of its popularity. It would certainly command a premium price.

You could say the same thing to the PlayStation brand considering how much money Sony lost all these years.

Of course I could, but we are talking about XBox here, and I prefer to stay on topic.

I'd challenge that assertion. There a number of improvements that could be made if Xbox was solely owned and controlled by Microsoft. Consider, a company willing to spend so much on acquiring an entire gaming branch may not settle for just one. They could just as well go after a chunk of Capcom, or even Nintendo. And what if the pricing were more like Steam? Why couldn't it be? There are tons of scenarios in which a different business partner than MS could deliver more, better games and cheaper prices.

Additionally, there's always room for better business practices with indies.

Xbox has plenty of goodwill to be successful on it's own. Divorcing from MS could be the best thing that could happen to Xbox.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Which posts? Can you give me some examples which prove I'm not an X1 fan, or that I'm biased towards another company?

I want them to seprate and become better run and managed. I hate inefficient companies and Xbox clearly is one, which only survives on MS's money. It can't survive on its own, and maybe that has to do with the way they run their business. People in charge of Xbox need to bring changes. Same with PS.

No proof, just my thoughts based off your posts in general.

And id say both Sony/MSFT are doing things pretty well considering how well they have been doing.  Id say out of the three Nintendo is the one that needs to make changes

I really hope xbox stays as it currently is. Playstation needs a stupid little brother so Sony won't lose touch with the world and start acting retarded again. Without xbox and its launch drama this gen would be online only/no used games. I wish xbox will stay so we get offline-capable PS5, after which there won't be any point of making more powerful hardware anyway.

Not true, at all.  Sony was never going to try always online or blocking used games.  Even after the reveal a head of the UK division stated that used games would be handled just like the PS3.  And there's a reason why Sony wouldn't go online only.  They are a WW company that enjoys selling its products everywhere, even in poorer countries.  They would effectively cut their potential customer base by about half if they tried to pull that. They have enough sense to know that.  While MS does sell its products WW, their sales and prices make it obvious that they are mainly focused on NA and EU (mostly the UK.)  These countries have decent internet infrastructures, hence the reason MS thought they could get away with it.

@ OP

There are only two reasons MS would spin off Xbox.  They are either going to sell it off to another company or they have sent it out to die on its own accord.  It's pretty obvious that the Xbox division would be bankrupt by the start of next gen if it was on its own, especially if they are going to try to go head to head with Sony over power next gen.  This would also mean fewer, in any, moneyhats from now on.  I don't think it will ever happen.  What I do think will happen is MS will see how 2015-2016 goes (they MIGHT even try once more next gen), and if there are no more signs that they can improve the XBO's situation and are just throwing money into a pit with little in return, they will most likely just kill Xbox HW.  I think they will keep the Xbox name for development of future games on PC, possibly other consoles, maybe under Xbox Games or something like that.

To be fair, overall the PS division has been profitable.  The 7th gen is the only one that they really stumbled in and took huge losses.  Now, they are back on top and making tons of money off of PS4, and even this early that includes HW sales.  This is why you don't hear any investors clamoring for them to drop it.

Xbox, on the other hand, has never made up for its losses from Xbox and 360.  And now here we are with XBO, obviously taking more losses for them to even compete with the PS4...in two regions.  This IS why every few months we hear investors asking MS to drop it.  I'm guessing we'll be hearing more after Q4 2014 reports are out and they get to see how much it cost to sell it at $349 PLUS free premium games.

Lol at the armchair CEOs everytime lol

But which posts? You must have some examples, cause I've never heard anyone here say that. People always accuse me of the opposite.

Well it depends on how you're looking at things. In terms of market share, Sony has been doing great all year. Nintendo and MS haven't been doing that well although MS has done very well in the holidays due to the massive pricecuts. But having said that, MS must be making huge losses on the X1. Sony might be breaking even but Nintendo is the only one which is selling their console at a profit. So in terms of profits, I'd say Nintendo is doing the best out of the three and profits is the most important measure of success IMO.
