Xbox is not profitable. It barely makes money, and has never recovred the losses its made in the past. MS doesn't even need it. 

As a Sony fan, I agree. M$ needs to sell Xbone. Whoever takes over will have a less capable software team backing up the console and soon the PS4 will be more feature intensive and pass the Xbone in power and experience. Please sell it M$

That people get angry because some investors believe a less profitable division should be spun-off ... wow. Still, it does make the thread a lot more amusing. Those investors are probably secretly Playstation fanboys. I'm sure that's it.

Not sure where the idea that this means the brand will be sold to a competitor comes from, either, as Microsoft is almost certain to retain enough shares to block any such moves. I can't imagine that they would not keep a significant stake and measure of control.

Ultimately, though, we're talking about a move that would be contrary to the way Microsoft has managed itself. I just don't see it happening unless they totally changed their philosophy, which would have repercussions far beyond the Xbox brand.

and what software is it? MS has no devolopers anymore and in hardware design they always failed. The software focus is part of the reason why xbox one failed in the first place = Kinect, power of the cloud

Hell no! No other company has the deep pockets for Xbox. I wouldn't mind Sony selling off PS tho. Their network is a joke and they don't have the knowledge or money to compete in this day and age.  Or at least give their network to another company to handle.  Like MS!  ; - )

even by buying games and devolopers they it arent what it used to be. The x360s launch had rare titles and even two exclusive jrpgs funded by MS, last odessy and blue dragon. Xbox UI was always horrible imo
