I think the successor will be more powerful than the PS4, but not by much. I think that if all this next gen Nintendo talk says anything, it's that Nintendo will focus more on innovation of platform and firmware this time, rather than on controllers, which excites me.

That is why, even though we (ninty fans) all want the most power as possible, I actually think the next N-console will be weaker than XB1/PS4.  Why?  Because the home version will be optional, a small insignificant box with the main platform being the handheld (which will be more powerful than usual launch Ninty HHs).  If the HH is around 200 gflops, I expect the home console to be 800 gflops but not more than 1 tflop max.

That's what i'm thinking as well. Next hardware could well be weaker than the PS4, because Nintendo really doesn't need it, and the only folks who would ask would be the third parties who aren't going to really be on board anyway.
