It's the lack of time and bigger responsibilities for sure. But I also think when you're a kid. These games are brand new. You're playing a sandbox game for the first times in your life. But after you play a series for so long, it becomes too repetitious. Even if it has a lot of content. I think our brains just get bored of it. So your time ends going to something else. You lose the kid wonder.
Not everyone's gonna be like this. But its a factor too. I use to love catching every pokemon. I bought all the games for that. I EV trained pokemon all the time. Each game probably had 200 hrs in it. But when D/P came out. I stopped caring. I didn't buy all the games. Skipped remakes. And only played the story modes. And that was it. I didn't even bother buying B/W2 I felt splitting up the story was lame. I still have time for long games. But I just don't want to bother doing all that work. And catching more and more pointless Pokemon. When I never use them.
