Forums - Gaming - What are some sick 16-bit Co-op games?

Hey.  My family and I are driving down to Florida for spring break, and I invited my friend to come along too.  I've got my laptop with me, and I have Full NES, SNES, GENESIS and N64 romsets, so I'm trying to think of some awesome Co-Op games we could play on the way there.  I got 2 USB controllers, and an adapter to plug my laptop into the cigarette outlet, so we should be all good.

Thanks for the advice!

Check out my pyro tf2 vid :)

Bet With routsounmanman: By the end of Q1 2008 Capcom WONT have announced a RE5 Wii Edition OR a new RE (classic gameplay) for the Wii (WON)

I don't think there's too much good Co-Op, it's more like you versus him games on those consoles. If you guys are going to play together, i'd personally stick with the 64 emulator, since it has the better multiplayer. Goldeneye, WWF No Mercy, Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, San Francisco Rush, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Mortal Kombat 4, Killer Instinct Gold, and that's just to start you off.

BTW, how is your 64 emulator? Does it run well and accurately? I can't seem to find a good emulator and roms. Where did you get yours from?

Contra III SNES, Turtles in Time SNES, Golden Axe Sega, Golden Axe II Sega

All the SNES fighting games- Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Super Street Fighter 2, TMNT Tournament Fighters... are also good

Any of the beatem ups are always good. Knights of the Round, Golden Axe and Turtles in Time are always fun.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

For NES:

Bad Dudes (The president has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president?)
Battletoads
Battletoads and Double Dragon
Double Dragon 2
Double Dragon 3
Nightmare on Elm Street (kinda crappy, but has up to 4 player co-op platforming on one screen)
Ninja Crusaders (think like 2 player Ninja Gaiden)
Nintendo World Cup (great Technos soccer)
River City Ransom (this is the one you want, this is the one you want!)
Shadow of the Ninja (think like 2 player Ninja Gaiden)
Super Dodge Ball (great Technos dodge ball)
Super Spike V'Ball (great Technos v'ball)
TMNT 2: The Arcade Game
TMNT 3: The Manhanttan Project

For SNES:

Battletoads and Double Dragon
Final Fantasy 3, aka 6 (2p from the beginning, you each control a couple characters during battles, and you can change at any time, great classic RPG with great soundtrack, in case you have a really long drive)
Legend of the Mystical Ninja (platforming action with towns in between stages to buy items and train and learn info, hilarious plot)
Secret of Mana (2p adventure/RPG after you find the 2nd character)
Troddlers (2p co-op puzzler)
Super Battletoads
Super Double Dragon (if you have a short drive, this whole game's like an hour and really fun)
TMNT: Turtles in Time
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (super sweet amazing classic top-down shooter with assloads of enemies, items, weapons, and zings, full of classic movie monsters and then some, highly recommended)

For Genesis:

Sonic 2 (it's like 1 and a half players, and 2 players for the bonus rounds, I guess you could trade off Sonic? hey it was fun when I was like 8 or so)
Streets of Rage 2 (great beat 'em up with amazing soundtrack)

For N64:

Goemon's Great Adventure (same as Legend of the Mystical Ninja)
Perfect Dark (try all the challenges, I dare you)

CASE CLOSED.

And if any of those aren't fun, I'll give you your money back!

There's an infinite amount of awesome multiplayer Mario games. Maybe the SNES or N64 Mario Kart. Definitely one of the N64 Parties as well.

For the SNES: Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country 1 or 2 (don't bother with 3), Contra, Battletoads, Battletoads and Double Dragon, Super Double Dragon.

N64: One of the Parties and Kart. Mario Tennis. Perfect Dark. Star Fox, Smash Bros... damn, N64 was such a great MP system!

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Oh my G-d I forgot Contra III: The Alien Wars for SNES! Luckily these other homies had my back. Onyxmeth is nuts if he doesn't think there was good co-op back in the day. Try out all the games I listed. There's definitely something for you in there. Good luck.

Mario Kart, Turtles in Time
