Forums - Sony - 14 Consecutive PS3 Wins over 360!

PS3 may be edging XBox 360 in past 14 weeks by an extra 40 000 consoles sold each week. However software sales are well and truly in XBox 360 favour outselling the PS3 by 2 to 1. PS3 are being bought as Blu-Ray players. The best titles are yet to come for PS3. A lot more quality games are out for XBox 360 at the moment and XBox 360 has a better online service.

*sigh* PS3s are being bought as game and blu-ray players. You say 2 to 1 on software. If you look at the multiplatform games it's nowhere near 2 to 1, and the PS3 has a better attach ratio. That indicates that as the install base creeps closer the games will sell the same amount or more. Blu-ray is an added feature that also promotes the sale of movies and makes the PS3 a better deal, as it has been since launch but that's an old topic. The 360 has 3 things that are better concerning the online service: in-game messaging, achievements, and movie downloads. The first 2 are confirmed this summer for PS3 and the third doesn't matter much since they are just rentals and not everyone even has a HD to download them to. Sony could add that feature as well. Finally: LIVE COSTS $50 A YEAR. Home will be free.

Well I am going to bed. I will leave this debate in Windbane's hands. He seems to be saying all the right things :).

night all!

Auron's comments I agree were very trollish. His statement was more of a personal attack than anything, imo.

As for SlorgNet, some of your comments were equally as outlandish as his.

I just reread your post (I merely skimmed it earlier), and I noticed you said that MS could drop the price by $150 without breaking a sweat. That is possible, if they didn't care about ever making a profit on the 360 again. The chances of it happening are slim to none. $50-100 maybe, but not $150 full stop.

However, I agree with some of Slorg's points, though not necessarily his conclusions. Particularly his point about MS being unable to compete on games. This is something that I have been saying since the beginning, and combined with brand loyalty this was my reasoning behind the ps3 eventually passing up the 360, and it was something I was saying even during the ps3's low points last Summer.

With most third party games going multiplat, it's up to 1st and 2nd parties to give each console the edge, and this is an area in which Sony excels. The fact that, of the two, the ps3 is the only one with any major third party exclusives left (MGS4, FFXIII, Tekken 6) has it's affects as well. The ps3 will eventually have a good edge over the 360 in games, imo.

I stated that they wouldn't ever do it, it is not as though I claimed that would ever happen.

As for games, all I have argued in this thread is that the 360 currently has the best library, and will have enough great games in the future to avoid justifiably being described as "crap" by people like Slorg and Auron.

Well, the HDD bit was definitely pushing it. An insanely expensive proprietary HDD does not trump a standard HDD in every console for developers to rely on, that can also be interchanged easily at will with any other 2.5 in. HDD.

I didn't say it did, I just said that your average gamer doesn't know that you can tranfer another HDD in. You might have, and I will when I buy one (all you can get here in Australia is the 40gb), but most people wont be aware of that.

But comeon, was the rest of what I said anywhere near the trollish fanatiscism of Slorg and Auron?

In fairness, the 360 had Ninja Gaiden 2, heh. Future possible third-party exclusives include Mass Effect, Bioshock, and Bungie titles, but 2 of those are independant now so we'll see.

Sony fanboys are out with force! Good for PS3. The excitement here is awesome.
I said this before, wait till PS3 beat Wii in WW sales - for any reason, that thread will be incredible.

But let's not call XB360 a crappy console. I love mine - and many people do, and many more will. 360 outperforms the original, Wii outperforms GC, and if Crazzy is correct, PS3 will outperform PS2 in about three years.
Everybody wins!

Bioshock, NG2, etc. are all published by MS, and thus second party. :P

It could hold on like the Genesis, which I believe led in Europe, except the Wii prevents it from winning the US. Besides, the PS3 can pass the 360 in the US if this year goes as well as it looks like it might. Of course, that'll take awhile.

Nice, One year ago I would have never guessed that PS3 would be beating xbox 360. 360 is doing good in NA.

Heh, I suppose, but M$ doesn't own the IP...or perhaps they do own part of those IPs...hum... Regardless, if the deals were just for 1 game like Mass Effect, there's still a chance the future games are still exclusive. Luckily, I can play Bioshock and ME on the PC =)

*slaps head*

I totally didn't see the "just don't want to" bit.

As for the games argument, I was bringing that up to show why I didn't think that Slorg was completely trolling, moreso than to argue with you. :P

PS3 will have the best racer GT5 and the best RPG Final Fantasy XIII out late 2008 or early 2009. I am personally going to wait until 2009 and get a PS3 with those two games FF 13 and GT5 plus a 40 inch Sony HDTV on 48 months interest free at my Harvey Norman store. Games such as Kill Zone 2, Resistance 2, uncharted, Ratchet and Clank. I will be able to pick up second hand.

Going by the recent trend PS3 will outsell the XBox 360 between 2 and 3 million this year.
