so YOU are basing "mistakes" on falls from generation to generation..
then ISN'T the Dreamcast the BIGGEST mistake, I mean it led from 10 million units to NOTHING! didn't it..forget falling it led to SEGA LEAVING the market
you cannot base a failure on this, then wouldn't SNES be a "failure" as well & hope to GOd you don't dare call it a failure.. |
You're just incapable of realizing the PS3 has shot the Playstation brand to hell. You're so disllusional you won't even acknowledge the rest of my points, you only feel comfort in attacking this one.
Was Sega a multi-faceted conglomorate like Sony is capable of dealing with such Hardship? No. Did the Dreamcast set Sega back over a decade in profits? No. The Dreamcast just couldn't compete. The Sega brand had never been the dominant force in the market at all much ales by the margin the PS1 and PS2 were. Sega's stake in gaming was a declining one and in the end it was a consistant trend of poor decisions and circumstance that doomed it.
Did the SNES cause Nintendo to lose to the Genesis or the TBX-16? No. Was it the beginning of a downward spiral for Nintendo? Yes. Did the SNES set Nintendo ten years back in profits? No.
Is it really that hard for you to admit the PS3 was a mistake? Does it really matter that much to you whether the PS3 is compared to the Virtual Boy or the Dreamcast?

2: Stop trying to force photo-realism down my throat until you can get out of the uncanny valley. Work on style and presentation instead of just pixels and bloom.
3: Try something weird and new, and hope we like it.
You'll cut costs way more than you cut revenue, and thus increase profit.

And PS3 had to cut it's price $200 in a year to stay competitive. I'm not saying that the 360 WILL come back (though I will say I'm 90% sure the 2 will switch places a few more times), or that 360 will beat the PS3. But it's almost impossible to predict this kind of stuff. Hell, I wouldn't have predicted that a $400 PS3 would be on the market right now. I thought it would be damn near impossible due to cost. But here we are. If Sony could do a desperate move to get back sales, so can MS. It's far from a done deal. And obviously both are getting absolutely eclipsed by the Wii. |
Nope. This is why Sony wins. They are a very good consumer electronics company competing in a consumer electronics market against a software company. MS has no chance of beating Sony when it comes to reducing manufacturing costs of hardware. They are the new kids on the block when it comes to these kids of things, and Sony wrote the book on it. It's what they do. |
Be that as it may, MS isn't Sega. And MS isn't Sony. They have WAAAAAAAAAY more money. If you can't reduce costs (and there is no evidence that they can't), they can always take a small hit on their cash reserves to accomplish a price cut. Also, while you are correct that Sony is better at lowering costs, keep in mind that the 40GB intro was not accomplished by lowered production costs but rather a $3 billion IPO. |
Right now they have 44 Billion $ earmarked to Buy Yahoo. If that indeed happens they will way too busy trying to integrate Yahoo and Microsoft to be able to afford more losses on the gaming side of the business... |
Show us some proof that is the literal case for MS's financial situation. How much money and maneuvering room do you know for a fact MS has? You don't, you're just speculating. MS is sitting quite cozily where it stands and whether the Yahoo deal happens or not, its just wishful thinking on your part it will in any way handicap MS's ability to outmaneuver Sony.

yes it IS hard to admit Ps3 was a mistake because the gen isn't over, by the END IF Blu-Ray takes off like DVD....notice I say IF before you start calling me dilusional...then PS3 would have been worth every penny due to royalties SONY would get
FOR THE PS BRAND....you can see PS3 is picking up, there is NO CHANCE of it beating PS3 but 80 million is very possible, beatin NES is still possible.. |
There is no chance of the PS3 beating the PS3?
sigh... believe what you want, I think I've proved my point quite thoroughly.

it's obvious I meant Ps2...there or Ps1 for that matter |
Yeah, if you say so. Whatever. You'll forgive me if I've grown tired of arguing with a brick wall.
