Forums - Gaming - Third Party Deals, It's Great... But not for Gamers!

This generations seems to be shaping around a ferocious battle to make exclusive deals. Recently we had the announcement and major release of several games as exclusives. Street Fighter V, Final Fantasy VII, Bayonetta 2, TitanFall, Tomb Raiden, Devil Third, No Man Sky were some of the games that were tied to exclusive or timed exclusive deals.

This is the first year of the 3 main consoles in the market, and it seems that this list will just increase further. And this is not a good thing, we as gamers will be deprived of so much content if we can't afford to have the three consoles, last gen it was Ok to have a Wii + PC/X360/PS3 combo, which was not good at all.

I think that having different first party content is a good stuff, that is what makes you go for a console. But this new trend of exclusivity will be really bad for gamers wallet, while it would be good for the Hardware manufacturers.

P.S: And I thought it was bad when they did exclusive content deals, or pre-order DLC, which are simply content that should be included in the game day one.

Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third would have never happened without Nintendo. Otherwise, I agree with you!

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

That's right, I forgot that Nintendo is the ugly duck.

With all due respect, that's a pretty stupid complaint. Yes, there are games you can't play unless you buy other consoles, as it has ALWAYS been. So how does this "harm" us?

It's not a complaint, since I can't complaint for something that is great from a business perspective, and companies are not a church.

I just pointing out that this is getting more and more frequent, and this is really bad for us. When you have massive titles like Street Fighter and Tomb Raider in the mix, you now that things are taking new proportions.

- Because one game you want to play does not come to your console anymore because of a bag of money.    Sony spend money on SFV and MS on Tomb Raider.

I have an PS4/xbone so buying exclusives does nothing good for me and I would rather have that Sony spend money on making The Legend of  Dragoon 2 and Microsoft money on making Kameo 2.

There are games being released each and every week...
About 200 games for PS4 within one year (some 140 for XOne)...
I can barely finish one game per month...

Any game that doesn't release on my console is completely irrelevant to me, I choose from the list of available games.
I don't feel harmed, I enjoy the games I can play and save myself plenty of aggravation and irritation...

Yeah.. better quit gaming right now... its over..

Wait. You're telling me that exclusives are not for the benefit of the consumer? Then why are those companies that stand "for the gamers" doing it?

It just doesn't make any sense.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

There is also what someone above just pointed too. Exclusivity comes with a costa, a huge cost. Which could also be invested in developing new IPs, or funding first/second party content, instead of buying out ready games.
