Forums - Sony - Sonys american Reign has ended.

Your grasping for numbers like they are going to elude you. If you don't think the PS3 is up for the long haul, then admit it.

Touting victory over supply constrained consoles is gonna lead to your inevitable horrible flaming when these little issues are ironed out.

Personally, I would stay the course. The only two sony fanboys worth their f'n salt are Crazzy and DMeisterJ, at least they admit it hurts when they lose a week instead of explaining it away with numbers gone by, and hoping for supply contraints to help their console.

Those two truely believe the PS3 can win, with no gimmicks, in a real, fair competition, eventually. If you wanna support your system, shouldn't you at least pretend that you believe that, instead of instantly creating damage control?

Considering the fact that the 80gb ps3 has been supply constrained for at least the past two weeks, and the fact that it accounted for ~60% of weekly sales in the US back in January, couldn't this same line be applied to 360 fanboys?

We'll never have a true picture of how things are going in America until all SKUs are readily available.  The 80gb won't be back in stock until June.

Wow, the Sony fanboys in this thread got bitter fast.

No matter how poorly MS's sales in Japan or Others may be, they're still making huge gains over their previous stake in the market last gen and will most likely have an even bigger presence the next. Even if they were to come in third this generation, they still will have won.

As for the Wii, even if the Wii never gets serious third party support, it has already made more money in its first year than either the 360 or Ps3 could in their entire lifetimes. Its a resounding success financially and is in no risk of being outdone regardless who it sells too. Being Nintendo's most succesful console ever just after their worst at the end of an 18 year downward spiral, this is a huge success for them. Every console sold after passing the Gamecube mark will be a gain for them no matter where the dice fall at the end of this generation.

Sony has taken a winning streak with two of the most succesful consoles ever and thrown it away with a cumbersome luxury item that appeals solely to Sony diehards, Techheads and people looking for a cheap Blu-Ray player. Even if the PS3 does beat the 360 this generation, the Ps3 will still be the loser and the 360 the winner since MS is the one gaining ground and the PS3 playing catchup. Unless the PS3 can outdo the 360 and Wii and make up for ten years of lost profits.

No matter what happens the PS3 will be the only loser this generation. No matter how well it does it will only be one who has lost ground while the two others have gobbled up its stake in the market and grown.

Edit: I can't beling the Sony fanboys are trying to get in on the "My console is supply constrained" bandwagon now."

Sorry guys, its the 40gb that people want, not the 80gb.

You'll cut costs way more than you cut revenue, and thus increase profit.

Sony releasing the PS3 was extremely ambitious and was pure arrogance. An expensive console with its main purpose to introduce Blu-Ray to people's homes has resulted in Sony winning the format war over HD DVD at the cost of dissappointing sales on PS3 hardware and software. Sales numbers have only just started to pick up in the last 3 months.
Next generation will see all three companies Sony, Microsoft and Nintendd with Blu-Ray player as normal when the costs of manufacturing Blu-Ray will be very low compared to the high costs of manufacturing Blu-Ray today.

Um... First of all last I checked people wanted a bigger HDD and BC and thats the 80gig. Secondly I think one of Sony's purpose for the Ps3 was to gain ground with the HD movie scene... last time I checked Blu-ray won and is gaining.... So that means Sony won right...

Blu-Ray has yet to bring a profit to Sony and won't for a very long time, even then there is no garantee it will become the dominant format over DVD before the next step in formats emerges. Eitherway, Blu-Ray isn't part of the gaming market, its just you trying to cherry pick anything Sony related to try and offset their loss in the gaming market.

Unless you're willing to argue the gaming market was worth sacrificing for Blu-Ray, then your argument has no bearing as Blu-Ray being a gain.

Sony's gaming division has lost ground and revenue that it will never gain it back this generation alone. Both Ninty and MS are expanding and growing in this market, no matter what happens, both will be at a gain. No matter what happens, Sony will be at a loss.

I have a hard time to believe that the X360 really sold over 100K in a week during a slow time of the year, and without any major game release. It's just too awesome (for a console that only had a $50 price drop in 2.5 years and is competing against a $400 PS3 with momentum).

VGC still keeps overtracking the X360?

I have a feeling that the Feb NPD will have the X360 at 270,000 max, suggesting VGC may have overtracked it by 20%.

one of the dumbest thread titles ever on here.

and you should be worried about the 360, its death will happen this year.

360 is looking to outsell its predicessor and has just recently become profitable. Oh yes, its doomed.

FYI, 360 doesn't have to come in second place to still win.
