Its dead on arrival as expected.

To correct you a little... the PS4 isnt doing ok. It is, by all reasonable relative measures, doing badly.

How do you claim reason if any resonable account of sales would lead anyone to the fact of no games = no sales in Japan.

PS4 is doing ok given the state of it having not one big game for that market.

No surprise. PS4 launched there first, has secured plenty of Japanese titles, offers most of the XB1 library, and is more powerful at a competitive price. XB1 is a big machine, and Kinect requires a bit more space to use properly than a typical apartment in Japan affords. Finally, every single time Microsoft makes an overture towards Japanese gamers, it's come across about as genuine as a politician pretending to enjoy fishing with some rural folks in front of a camera whilst campaigning.

Ok and they tried pretty hard with the original xbox maybe they should have just given up after that gen ended. The way you stated it it comes off personal fyi.

No it doesnt, you are being too sensitive.  This is a discussion about a product, its marketshare in a region and the business sense of that. It couldnt be less personal.

...and yes they tried hard with the 360 too early on.  They tried hard twice, didnt work... ditch them I say.

couldn't agree more.  xbox should pull out of japan.   ..and china.   ..and the middle east.   ...and europe (excluding the UK).

yup... people always assume japanese only buy japan made products....

but check out how are those Xperia phones doing against Iphone in JP

and Samsung LED Tv's doing against Sony's bravia

It's from last year but still have a good read:

"Samsung also pulled out of Japan in 2007, after failing to make much of a dent here. (The biggest Korean carmaker, Hyundai Motor, also beat a retreat from Japan shortly thereafter.)"- The New York Times

There's nothing MS can do to fix it and they shouldn't waste their time and money trying to improve sales there.

There is something to be said for keeping up appearences. I know that sounds wrong, but Asia is still a huge market.  And even people in the west like the content they produce.  I think they kinda have to stay.

I can tell you why. No Idolm@ster.
