Just a cool little tibbit that caught my eye on ps3fanboy.com and then I read into it a bit more at:

 It's interesting that they decided to use PS3's to do their computation, I'm sure that's atleast partly due to the fact that Sony was willing to give them the PS3's, but I haven't heard of Scientific research using gaming consoles before.  I know we already have folding@home so this isn't exactly the only instance of this, but still interesting to read about.
