Dim the controller lights in the settings for a start as that does make a difference. But I get about 8-9 hours out of mine on a full charge with vibration on and currently loads of voices coming out the speaker too (Playing GTA). |
the controller last only about 6-7 hours. i have timed my controller. thats very bad considering xbox one with batteries is more then 20 hours and similar when you add the charger pack to it.

Xbox one controller isn't really a fair comparision though is it. Doesn't that use standard batteries? Standard (well decent brand) AA batteries hold considerably more charge than a battery in a DS4 will, hence over double the play time. I used to to use a pair of eneloops in my old 360 pad which were rated at 2600mah and they used to give me 25-30 hours between charges which was brilliant. So I expect them same batteries would give similar performance in the One pad today.
Like I said before, mine give over 8 hours play, but even so, there is no denying that the battery is probably one of the lowest capacity that Sony could have found. I'd rather they let us use our own AA if I'm honest.

if i compare using the charger kit that you can buy for the xbox one controller, then it still last longer then the ps4 controller. teh charger kit , works the same way as the ps4 controller. However it lasts close to a normal AA batteries. I rather have AAA batteries then have my game constantly interrupted because of low batteries. It gets quite annoying as the total time is absymal
