i agree, many ppl r waiting for that game to comeout before they comit to PS3 purchse

Pointless thread here. Wii is a considerably cheaper console and you can basically buy two Wiis for the price of one PS3. Cheapest console in generation will always sell more in a week. there maybe however the odd week due to supply issues where the PS3 will outsell the Wii.

PS3 is still selling crapy in Japan (10-15k a week). and Wii is tracking above PS3 in EU and US on a weekly basis. Even if PS3 were to beat Wii in 1 or 2 territories this year by a small margin (very unlickely) then you still have Japan to help put Wii above PS3 on a weekly Ww basis. 

GameCube says hi. N64 does as well.

I wonder Crazzy, what will happen if Sony does drop the price to $299, only $50 more than the Wii, and the PS3 still can't beat it? 

 It should be quite obvious.  He'll talk about how that $50 represents a massive barrier between mass market price and premium price and how the Wii is still a fad for Marioboys and "true gamers" only play the PS3.  Then he'll rave about how once the heavy hitters like AF4 KN2 Pi3.14 in 2009 and 2010 arrive the PS3 will sell eleventy million consoles and zoom past the Wii which is a failure because it didn't sell 2.134x its first year sales in its second year.

PS3 may pass Wii on American+Europe but it will never catch Wii on Japan

I agree, Japan seems doomed until FF comes out, but at some point this year I think the PS3 may beat the Wii a few weeks in a row, especially if it doesnt get this supply stuff in order.

But, its really all up to nintendo. The PS3 is going to have a 12-15million console year. If the Wii can keep momentum into holiday season 08, it will be fine, if it can't then the PS3 will beat it some weeks

Its two different fanbases entirely. But the PS3 has the most room left to gain, since its American fanbase is just starting to show a little life. If MGS4, LBP, Home are huge hits, Sony drops price to $299, and a lot more Blu-Ray titles are rolled out including LOTR and Matrix on Blu-Ray, well see huge PS3 sales come the holidays.

@Stever89, then ps3 failed for 1st place in this console gen, though still succeed in HD league. =)

@Dromafett, i hope you will repeat THAT after FFXIII, MGS4, GT5 releases. =))

You are kidding yourself. Once Wiifit comes out in the US, all the P3 will see is the dust.

 I'll give you that FF and GT should do well in Japan but MGS4 is still unsure.  Neither MGS2 nor MGS3 sold a million in Japan so I doubt MGS4 is going to have any long term impact on hardware sales there.
