Forums - Sony - [Official] PS4 on Black Friday: GTA V + TloU Bundle and LBP3 + LEGO Batman 3 Bundle

You're right but my question is about the price rather than the games.

I already have a PS4 (and loving it) but I would've liked to see what numbers PS4 could manage with similar deals to Xbox One's $329.

Therefor I'm asking if a lower price isn't nearly always more important than free games for the general American consumer.

What would sell more:

$399 PS4 + GTA V + The Last of Us

or

$329 PS4 + Infamous: Second Son

[x] $329 PS4 + Infamous: Second Son

As I've said before, Sony has clearly shown that it doesn't intend to price match or compete with XOne this holiday season. I am certain that they will sell all their planned stock at this current price. Why lower the price and revenue just to end up selling the same and going out of stock earlier.
It's not a race --- they'll sell full allotment on BF, restock for December, sell out again for Christmas, reztock and continue selling in January, February etc.

There really is no need to panic and drop the price.

This makes sense. But I don't get why MS has to drop Xbox One's price to $329/$299/$279 with free games in order to sell out.

I actually thought that an Xbox One + Halo: Master Chief Collection bundle priced at $399 would sell out during black friday.

I guess I just can't grasp the concept of black friday and why some would lose money just to sell out a little faster. Why would anyone choose to sell 1 mill in 12 hours and lose money rather than sell 1 mill in 24 hours and earn money? For the positive PR?

Because PS4 is more desired product (as has been proven for the entire year so far). So MS must undercut the price as much a spossible, because they don't want to just rely on PS4 selling out and the remainder of customers basically settling on a less popular product.

That's basically how sales in general work, right? Lower demand for a product leads to price reductions in order to entice customers away from a similar product...

They arent bad bundles but they are dissapointing for for me. I already have GTA V and Last of Us and Lego batman doesn't interest me. Hopefully retailers will offer their own special bundles and perhaps also lower the price.

Yes I'd just never imagined that MS in the US had to cut to $279 AND include Halo MCC in order to entice customers away from PS4.

Why the hell not ? even 360 was no great seller on equal footing.  It did great releasing a year early and ohh yahh being $200 cheaper, but even at its best xbox console needs massive discounts in comparison to a PS to do well.  X1 is far from Xbox best.
