At first I thought 'No biggie, I seen planes do that before in strong wind.', then I thought 'SHIT THE BED! HE'S GONNA STACK IT!'. Glad I'm not on there, all my clean pants would be in the luggage.
Why did the guy continue to attempt the landing even with the plane totally sideways in such strong winds? :O
I'm not a pilot or anything, but it does seem a bit crazy...

The only transportation means safer than planes are trains and elevators AFAIK, so don't worry ;)
Regarding planes, the scariest thing that ever happened to me was thunder very near the plane (I know it was near because there was no discernible delay between the flash and the loud blast). That was like less than a minute after take-off, the flight went fine from then on. I was thinking about it during almost the whole flight though.
