Anno 1404 & Venice Add-On
US Name: Dawn of Discovery
System: PC
Genre: City Building
Year: 2009
Rank last year: New (*)
Anno 1404, called Dawn of Discovery in the US, is a city-building game set in, what else, the year 1404. Like all previous games in the Anno series, the player must build there city by colonizing islands and trading goods while keeping their population happy by keeping up supplies. In Europe this series is quite popular, especially in Germany, but also here in The Netherlands. The Venice Add-On is pretty much a necessity, because it brings so much to the game it feels incomplete without it.
These kind of games are tailor made for me. I can play these forever, together a friend of mine. We've been playing these games more or less non-stop for over a decade-and-a-half now. Anno 1404 now, one of it's predecessors before. Many cities have we built, much money have we earned. It's always a good time to look back at old save-games features cities with tens of thousands of inhabitants, with all the monuments in place.
Game #31
The canon of this game is on shaky ground sadly now that a new entry in this giant franchise coming late next year could potentially overwrite it.

Almost, which basically gives it away .
It's Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. The game takes place during approximately the same time as the new movie will, so depending on how that goes, some of the Jedi Knight series could be retconned. Let's hope they'll have enough respect to the older material or keep it vague enough in the new movie so that we can keep on considering these parts of the EU to be canon all the same.
I liked Jedi Academy to, but I thought that it wasn't up to par with this one. I think Jedi Outcast has a better story, better characters and overal has a more polished feel. The whole series is great though, including the first Jedi Knight and the old Dark Forces. It's too bad they never made another sequel, especially with Republic Commando later on showing us the potential.
