Hint for #41:

The director of this 2001 action game became public enemy number one, at least from the point of view of angry console warriors, when his latest game was announced in 2012.

Devil May Cry?

With the director being Hideki Kamiya?

Correct!

Did you play DmC: Devil May Cry? I actually really liked it.

Devil May Cry (PS2, 2001)

guessed by Ka-pi96

Originally developed as a Resident Evil game, Devil May Cry shares much of the sinister atmosphere and violence of Capcom's famous survival-horror series. Yet, unlike Resident Evil, or, at least, the Resident Evil games that preceded it, Devil May Cry is concerned much more with fast-paced, frenetic action. Despite a few puzzle-solving and platform sections, Devil May Cry is oriented around combat, stylish fighting, and combination attacks. And on that front, the game is a wild success. With a huge assortment of enemy types, weapons, upgrades, and boss battles, plus nimble controls and style to spare, Devil May Cry is a masterpiece of arcade action.

I downloaded it on PS+, but I haven't had the chance to play it yet, unfortunately.

It's a pretty solid and fun game. It's, unfortunately, one of those cases were people judged the cover of the book; not the inside.

Catherine is only 40th on your list? :o

While I do think that certain games deserve different spots than the ones I gave them by reading my list again and again (And Catherine should be, in fact, more on the #30); I've always said that my main complain of Catherine is the abuse of puzzles, and too little bar time. It eventually made me force through the game and switching to easy and not care anymore about the gameplay sections; I just wanted to see how the story ended.

Still, one of the best games I've played.

Game 40: It's the less sucessful main game of the franchise (except for the last entry that's still kinda new) that is one of the most well known (maybe the most) franchises in the genre. the first game that was taken as one of the most revolutionary games ever.

I'm thinking about Final Fantasy here, but least succesful in terms of sales, or fans' reception? If it's the former, then I believe it's FFV. If it's the latter, it's FFXIII.

It's not FF.

But it's about sales, not reception.

Hum... Mario Kart Super Circuit?
