Well the worst continuation of a series was the 4th crash bandicoot, the one on PS2. The first 3 were top notch, then the 4th one sucked balls.

Haven't all the Crash Bandicoot's after Naughty Dog stopped making them sucked? I guess the same thing would go for Spyro the Dragon (though I've never really played them apart from the first one) after Insoniac stopped making them?

you are correct. I believe it was just the first 3 made by naughty dog for PSone.

super mario bros 2. It wasn't even originally a super mario game but just a japanese game remade to cash in on the series :(

Bah, resprited Doki Doki Panic is a lot of fun. A lot more fun the the Lost Levels. (Japanese SMB2.)

Crono Cross was a disapointment but i didn't expect much.  Beat it twice, story didn't ever seem to go anywhere.

FF7 is close... but at least it was playable if you ignored the story and dialogue... and Cait Sith.

I'd go with Contra: Legacy of War as well.  That was the shitty overhead one right?

I remember getting that game and thinking "Contra Hell yeah.  The orignal Contra Ruled,  Super C was great too(though most people hate it due to no Contra code.)  Contra force was pretty bad ass too though why it was called Contra Force I wasn't sure since there were no aliens.  So this game has to at least be pretty good.

definitely more merciful then lost levels.

I don't think it really had much to do with the difficulty. In truth SMB 2 is way too easy. I just like how it developed the characters a lot more. I also just thought it was more fun... because of how crazy everything was.

I mean think about it. Thanks to that reskining... Luigi became the tall skinnier one, ( i believe he jumped higher in lost levels first though.) Princess Peach got the floating ability for the first time, and Toad made his first apperance. The main Toadstool man who would later grace the TV show.

It also introduced Shy guys.  and Bbombs.  Two of my favorites.

it's an alright game but i think some people (not saying you or anything) do give it a free ride cause it's a mario game. i do like it more then lost levels though.

as for the contra question in your other post, there were 2 contra games for the psx.

the first was contra: legacy of war. as you and i have said, it sucks big. it's at a 63.7% average on gamerankings.com

then there was c: the contra adventure. believe it or not, this game averaged a far lower (39.1%!) score.

however, i decided not to pick c: the contra adventure as the worst sequel or series follow up ever cause the game that came before it wasn't anything worth talking about either.
