Family sharing doesn't allow multiplayer with the two accounts. Once a user is approved to play they have access to their friend's entire library for as long as they want only if the main account isn't playing that game. Only 5 accounts can access the library at a time but up to 10 devices. |
Wait, so are these two features even comparable at all? One is literally sharing the game, while the other is just sharing gameplay video?

oh, so this shareplay is not what they showed in farcry 4? that a friend could join your game?

A friend without the game? No idea personally, I'm out of the loop and trying to figure it out now.

yes at E3 if im not mistaken :P but it seems that this is not the issue here xD
if it's sharing the video of the game you're playing, in CoD make sense the block since it could lead to cheating

The Far Cry 4 "Invite a Friend" thing is like the Nintendo DS Download Play; A friend invites you, you then download a portion of the game, and can play with them even if you don't own it.
From what I understand, Far Cry 4 will require you to download part of the game, and it will run on your console. It's not like Share Play, which simply streams the game footage to the console.

Seems fair enough. Its up to the developer at the end of the day. Financially it makes very little sense to offer the feature.

Well... I was under the impression that it would work with every game (until now), specially the new ones cause based on the threads and the news, as well as what quite a few people told me it would be for everygame but it doesn't appear to be that way. Maybe if people didn't tell me it would be for every game but rather said, it would be for the games which the publishers allowed, then I wouldn't have made that comment.
Oh and, I am well aware that its not Sony's fault but one would think that ps+, a paid online service, would make sure something like this works on virtually every game, specially the new ones, cause on Steam, you can share AW with your family and friends, even the day zero edition (just the only catch is that two people can't play the game at the sametime). But who knows, maybe it really is cause its the day zero edition and they will get it sorted out

Its supported by default. Its a system wide feature. And will work on everygame unless the publisher chooses to opt out. Accoring to sony. This doesn't surprise me though, I expect most major third party AAA games to block it until they can see an increase in sales due to such a feature on other titles. The thought of some people never having to buy a game and just play it off their friends consoles in hourly chuncks probably is giving a fair number of execs nightmares. |
Bobby Kotick trying to block something like that makes sense. EA will probably do the same thing.
