Forums - Sony - Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare blocks out Share Play entirely

Last week I reported about some strange findings when attempting Share Play in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare with a friend. That was a region lock on the feature. Today, we’ve discovered that Share Play is blocked out entirely, regardless of region.

While playing Advanced Warfare, which came out earlier today, I attempted to join a Share Play session with my friend. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do this as I was met with the following message:

“The host’s game screen is not displayed because the current scene is a blocked scene for Share Play. Wait until the blocked scene is finished.”

I instructed my friend to jump into other modes to see if this was exclusive to the game’s campaign and unfortunately it is not. It seems as though Activision has used this screen which is typically reserved for blocking out sensitive information or cutscenes to instead block out the whole game.

I wonder if more game developers are going to do this?

Thanks for posting.. That made me somewhat hesitant on a purchase

Not surprising.

Lolll, wow... So much for working with every game huh? Mean while, steam's family sharing continues to work on virtually every game...

But it does work with every game, but only if the publisher chooses to allow it. You can't force these things on publishers.

btw: does sony pay the publishers for being allowed to do such a feature?
if i was a publisher, i would not like this without getting anything in return

It's probably on a game by game basis, and not supported by default.

Yea but heres the thing... On steam, games like Cod AW works with Family Sharing yet on ps4, it does not... Like, I get that you can't "force" these things on publishers but I was under the impression that virtually all games would have this feature, specially the new games cause on steam, all new games and virtually all old games have Steam's Family Sharing feature enabled

So, its a bit interesting to me that on Steam, you can do Family Sharing with this but on PS4, you cant even though Steam is free but PS+ is paid

Why would they deny it's use? Can't see anyone playing COD with share play forever, would be nice to try it out first before purchase, potential to end with a few more sales as friends purchase the game to join up together on the MP.
