We're reaching a plateau in graphics I think.

Yep. I've been noticing that most hardware makers are now going towards making hardware more effecient, not more powerful.

For example, Nvidia's GTX 980 is not much more powerful than the 780ti that it replaces. However, it consumes a lot less power.

It's more than GC-Wii, but those screens are cutscenes. Actual gameplay is more telling.

I disagree, but I've been wrong before.

Looks more like PS2 to original Xbox to me.

GameCube to Wii? It's definitely greater than that. Look at the screens I posted, for example. Those would never have looked like that on either PS3 or 360. The pics I posted just kill off the notion, entirely!

The two in the OP aren't cutscenes and many of my screens were game-play as well.

The gap is to me undewhelming.

Well, I can't do anything about that. :)

All I can say is, if this is the difference $600 AUD of hardware buys me, I think I'll hang onto my currency.

This is kind of synonamous to the difference I see in the new vs oldcall of duty pics.

Pretty much the same leap.

I dunno, the COD audience is generally pretty casual and I reckon even this time next year a lot won't have upgraded to 8th gen yet.

But we'll see.

I don't want to argue the whole casual vs hardcore thing again ...

If Ubisoft and EA has already taken steps for a big franchise like AC or Star Wars: Battlefront respectively to be next gen only then Activision will likely follow suit with COD ...

I think  COD is however a much bigger and more established franchise and may appeal to a new budget minded market which Microsoft is trying to reposition the xbox 360 with the new holiday bundle it recently released. Microsoft continues to maintain that is remains committed to the 360 until 2016. It will also probably try to rally the likes of Activision to continue the support. But I guess going forward it will depend on how MS' efforts to appeal to the budget minded market pans out and if decent sales can be maintained for ps360 this holiday and next. I guess we will need to wait and see.

I think it would be stupid NOT to support the 360 and even PS3 until at least next year. You'd be cutting out 60 or 70 million potential buyers, plus late adopters.

Not a huge gap, but it's a lot larger than what we've seen with many other cross-gen games. The IQ difference is particularly striking. Are there any other screens to compare?

All things considered though, it's a nice looking game. Not in league with the likes of Killzone:SF, but a pretty big step up from Ghosts.

There's barely any difference.
