Remember this:

"Every generation, as you’ve probably heard, has grown approximately 30%. So this generation is about 300 million units," he shared. "Most industry experts think the next generation will get upwards of about 400 million units. That’s if it’s a game console, over the next decade.

"We think you can go broader than a game console, that’s our aim, and you can go from 400 million to potentially upwards of a billion units. That’s how we’re thinking of the Xbox opportunity as we go forward."

Well with how bad the PS4 is selling I don't think we will be able to reach that number, and the hype is about to go down soon it will start selling like the X1 on a weekly basis.

What do you guys think will we reach 1 billion this gen?

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Around the Network

Probably not! The thing with the last gen and even the gen before that was that there were a lot of casuals involved buying the console for "less gaming" reasons. Like buying a ps2 for the DVD player or buying a wii for its motion consoles with fitness nonsense and wii sports. While gaming was still there, the console's other features played a big part for reasons to buy the console

This gen however, there is nothing like that... All 3 platforms target the "hardcore" in one form or another so all the casuals basically went to casualville since I think most don't really care about "hardcore" gaming. So yea, I doubt it but we will see

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

What foolishness is this? The current gen will retract back to Gen 6 levels of sales (around 200M) with the majority of sales coming from PS4: 100-130M, Wii U will likely not even reach 20M and Xbone need to worry about not losing too much of their 360 market share in US and UK (PS4 is still winning) because everywhere else is lost.

This gen will be the lowest selling for consoles since the Playstation 1-N64-Saturn era IMO.

PS4- 100 mill, X1 - 45 mill, Wii U - 19 mill = 164 mill

Is kinda where I see it shaking out.

PS2 - 150 mill, GCN - 22 mill, XBox - 24 mill, Dreamcast - 10 mill = 206 million
