Forums - Sony - PS4 Biggest Advantages in OS Gaming Features Over the Competition

Yes, they must have screwed something up with the messaging system because when PS4 first launched the thing was instant, now it's worse than PS3. They must have screwed the code up fixing everything else.

Users the increase number of users was way faster than they expected.

It is a shame... they need to fix that.

The friend invite was terrible before 2.0 too... you needed to use the iOS App to add friends to play Destiny... now it is working fine.

Maybe right now this could be the worst issue in PS4 network.

  1. Play Go / Intall System are amazing better... most games takes less than 1 minute to start to play
  2. Patch System initially was bad when the game updates were cumulative and BF4 patch reached 4GB but today it is good... patch didn't get bigger than 1GB anymore (in most cases is way less than that like 200-300MB)...
  3. OS Response is crazy fast... apps open in 1 second and shift between app and game is instantaneos... same for messages, friends, etc... it is amazingballs fast
  4. Share is just what sold PS4 at begin... you can even take screenshots (a super advanced feature)
  5. Remote Play absolutelly works... it is a new way to play when you are not close to your PS4... you can play even in another city or state... it is amazing.
  6. PlayStation Now that brings BC for popular PS3 games
  7. Share Factory I don't need to explain... if you use Share you needs that app
  8. Twitch HD with Archive nice addictions for streaming
  9. Enhancements in Share, UI, etc
  10. The OS is even faster (you can't believe how they increased the performance)
  11. YouTube support finally
  12. Music Player finally and you can play it in background playing in full screen (awesome)
  13. SharePlay, you need to use to see how amazing it is.
  14. Themes please try the Destiny's theme
  15. Remote Play for Android's phones
  16. Enhancements in Message, Party, etc.

Since these points are generating some buzz and a lot of people don't have a PS4 to test, here are my 2 cents:

  1. It's like he said. Most installs take 1 min (of course, the game keep installing at BG, but you are playing while it does it) and you can usually start playing a game with around 20% of the download. I was playing The Crew Beta yesterday after 3GB downloaded of a total 14GB.
  2. I didn't noted it, but the only giant patch I got was one of the first on Shadow Fall. I'm happy with how he handles patching.
  3. Yes, it's pretty much instantaneous. The only time he gets a little slow is if the game is doing some heavy operation (normally network related) and you switch too many times between OS and game in a short amount of time.
  4. Like he said.
  5. I didn't tried it outside of my house, but that's because my upload speed sucks. It works inside my house, but I had some issues earlier when trying to use it via wireless (instead of the direct connection) with my 2 routers at home, but I fixed it after some fiddling with NAT options. There's a bit of input lag, but I don't see problems for SP games, maybe MP in 60 fps games. It's interesting to note too that the streaming is at 30fps.
  6. Didn't tried it yet.
  7. I liked the app, it's good to refine the gameplay videos.
  8. I only saw it yesterday, but I liked the new Live From PS app.
  9. I saw the UI enhancements. My fav is the new section in Friends that shows who is in an active MP session in each game and gives you a button to quick enter on the match. Good to follow my KZ clan.
  10. Well, I didn't noted a lot of change, it was always fast.
  11. Thanks god. I love finally being able to upload my gameplays directly to it.
  12. Didn't tried it. I usually prefer the game's soundtrack. Someone worked hard to have musics that fit the original concept, I wouldn't want to change the experience with my own musics.
  13. Didn't tried it. Let's test when you are online! Of course, I can't share the game myself because my upload sucks, but I would love to try playng remotely.
  14. I liked. The only downside is that sometimes the console lags a bit after exiting a game if you are on a custom theme.
  15. No Xperia Z3 here and I'll probably get a Nexus next time anyway, so... Of course, I do it on Vita so it isn't that much of a deal for me.
  16. I didn't noted on party, but there were some good new stuff on Message.

What I want now from Sony is adding the possibility to use the Vita as a real joystick. I only have a DS4 so when I play on local MP, I usually connect the Vita with Remote Play and use the DS4 as player 2. It works great, but:

- The Vita must be player 1.

- The Vitas's screen stays on, since you are actually "Remote Playing".

I would like to have a third option on the Vita's Remote Play app: use as joystick. Being able to connect as any player and with the screen off, so I would get more than the normal 5 hours of battery the Vita normally has.

im sold to ps4.
im just waiting the games.

Remote play is a broken PoS that was advertised so horribly.  Zero input lag when being miles away is how it was advertised.  Explain how reviewers bash it for input lag in the same household...

Just to clarify, zero input lag playing over a network is physically impossible. Even if I connected your PC console directly to the server with a giant exclusive optical fiber, you would still be limited by the speed of light. Even in this ideal and impossible scenario, you would get 7 ms to send a command and 7 ms to receive the result (supposing there is an ideal 0 ms to process the input and give you the result, impossible again), resulting in 14 ms. Now move it to the real world and you get one hell of a challenge.

In my house, just pinging my router I get 150 ms, so that's what I will have with Remote Play. Anyway, it works pretty decently to play a little bit on separate parts of the house and that's because my PS4 is on wifi too, while the best would be put it on a wired connection. It's good to note that you must at least have your Vita on an area of the house with good wifi coverage, but that's just common sense.

Seems like they fixed the message issue with 2.02.

I'm on vacation and I will just put my hands on my PS4 next week... so I can't make tests.
