I lost a second by having no other windows open.

I want to try the other laptop we have but it would take too long... it is exactly the same model as this laptop and exactly the same age (3 years now) but I seem to have taken better care of mine than my sister has of the other... it takes about 5 minutes to go from pressing power until manageing to open an IE window.

Thats nearly 20% faster than me with the same CPU. Curious.

^^What AV program do you have? I also depends on other procceses that are running.

Seems to depend quite a lot on what programs are running in the background, took over a minute when I tried it before I thought to close steam. And my speed comes from drinking powerthirst

What do you mean by AV? I had no other windows open, though there were many background processes, but not many large ones

Wow that's fast! What CPU do you have?

How many places? You can't get an exact value of pi as it is never ending.

Yes, there is. Google 'superpi', you may be able to find it.
I can't remember exactly where it is though. My computer does do it about 10-15 seconds faster (for 2 million digits) in linux than in windows though
