Never understood how insults over the internet could affect people.

But yet everday we have people hating/getting upset/argueing against others who bought and enjoy another console from another manufactor on this site..

Arguing over some fanboy stuff is one thing but being offended just because some idiot I don't even know called my mother a whore seems weird.

That's why I think we should allow full on insults on here. They do no harm and are funny to look at.

While that wouldn't surprise me, this "study" is kind of meaningless. It doesn't even say that these are people who play games, just that they're "internet users".

Actually, looking it over, it lists men as receiving more threats of physical violence. Why is this article only about women?

The feminist agenda and misandry in modern culture.

"On my business card I am a corporate president. In my mind I am a game developer. But in my heart I am a gamer." - Satoru Iwata

Not surprising at all. People just need to learn not to give a shit about what people say on the internet. Because in most cases, 80% of people who spew hateful comments online wouldn't dare do it in front of your face.

Life Time Sales Prediction

PS4- 80 million

Xbox One- 40-60 million

Wii U- 25-40 Million

The gaming community's greatest benefit is thick skin.

The same study also found that men were more harassed (44% to 37%) however, the amount of sexual harassment was higher for women, and the amount of real world stalking as a result of online harassment was also higher with women. Doesn't really paint MP gaming as a very friendly environment, however, that's unfortunately been the case for years now.

Having heard the kinds of shit talking that happens online, I think much of the male and female harassment can be chalked up to just that, however, the examples of real world stalking are extremely troubling, and that shit, has to stop (So does SWATing).  It'd be nice if people could moderate the tone of their shit talking (gender, race, sexual preference, ethnicity etc... honestly it's the lowest common denominator of shit talking, read a book, learn some more intelligent ways to antagonize), but that's like expecting a miracle.

So online gaming is even worse than IS websites?

Ok...
