Just out of interest: What do fans of CTR think about its follow up, Jak X: Combat Racing? Was it a good "sequel"?

Hmmm, never played it. Did you play CTR? Anyways, couldn't tell you sorry. Can you compare MK and CTR, your input would be valued. :)

As you can see from my first post in this thread, I didn't care too much for either game and because I haven't played the full game of CTR, I can't make a conclusive statement which one of the two is better

.

 Jak X  SUCKS....BUT REALLY SUCKS....

Compared to CTR it is really crap....;

Well I can compare CTR with the best MK games and in my opinion CTR deserves a place in the best kart racers ever...

I would compare Jak X with Motorstorm not a failure but fails to be special...

Talking about racers...There were a lot around the PS One / N64 period..

Diddy Kong Racing
S.C.A.R.S
Speed Freaks
Chocobo racing...

:(  And last generation we had only two racers.  Jak X who is not worth to mention and Double Dash MK that dissapointed me;

Don't dispair! We had that shitty Crash Tag Team Racing and that crappy Crash Nitro Kart too!

Yay, no one is spared from crap games, right d21lewis? But CTR is still better, lol.

That wasn't the only way, every item in Mario Kart could be used to block or avoid a red shell. The only ways you were screwed were if you had no item, attacked you from above or caught you off guard by hitting you at an indefensible angle with the item you had.

The best item wasn't even the Red Shell, it was the 3 green shells it produced a very hard to bypass shield, could be used as a weapon and really was only weak against stars, also after deployed you could collect a 2nd item.

Go against those with a red shell and you were screwed. Most battles i've had usually involved covering the top level with all sorts of crap so it was near unnavigatable to force someone off one of the bridges then hitting them with a red shell while you were above them or chargeing someone with green shells to hit them at the right time. Nothing was more deadly then having 6 green shells.

Stars could be deadly too... it was hard to hit with them, but if you hit once you could also screw someone with a second hit.

Green shells are okay. However stars are the winning ticket all the way because all you need to win with a star is one shot shortly after activating it. After that you brake, back up in the enemy again, and plow forward into the enemy one last time for a kill.  Do it right and the enemy never even has a chance.

Also green shells are not super shields. As soon as you lose one shell you're vulnerable once again and the amount of takes to discharge 2 green shells and activate your held item is long enough to give the opponent a winning shot.

Crash Team Racing I'm sorry to say isnt even in the same book let alone page as Mario Kart 64?

Is this thread serious?

Yeah, it's serious, go look at CTR and if you say your partial to MK, fine. But if you say CTR is crap, you are out of your mind, and I say this with greater confidence now that about half the people here have agreed with me.  Pretty good given the reputation of vgchartz and it's "leanings."  So yes, I am serious.

 Jak X was pretty fun, but no where near as fun as MK.  It was much faster paced, and in general wasn't as fun.

CTR is one of the best games what I have ever played.
