The PS2 still tops the home consoles with regard to budget games sold in the UK according to MCV/Chart Track's monthly report.
| MikeB said: @ Dallinor The 360 has a 1 million lead on the PS3 in the UK. Despite this there are more PS3 titles charting in the top 40 then there are 360 titles. What is going on? Probably it's not really 2:1 (we know the PS3 is slightly undertracked compared to Chart Track figures even after the big adjustment, maybe the 360 is a little overtracked). Although not yet with similar gaps like in other European countries it's interesting to note various multi-platform titles for the PS3 have now started to outsell their 360 counterparts for week 9: 15 (15) [PS3] CALL OF DUTY 4: MODERN WARFARE 18 (14) [360] CALL OF DUTY 4: MODERN WARFARE 31 (23) [PS3] BURNOUT PARADISE 38 (29) [360] BURNOUT PARADISE 40 (26) [PS3] ASSASSIN'S CREED |
The same seems to start happening in another 360 stronghold Australia (we know the PS3 is undertracked by VGChartz for Australia compared to GfK/Sony [Bravia] figures):
Australia:
week 8, 2008
01 (01) [NDS] Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
02 (__) [PS2] Guitar Hero III Bundle
03 (10) [NDS] Kageyama's Maths Training
04 (__) [NDS] High School Music
05 (__) [NDS] Cooking Mama 2
06 (__) [PS3] Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
07 (03) [360] Devil May Cry 4
08 (04) [PS3] Devil May Cry 4
09 (__) [360] Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
10 (08) [360] Lost Odyssey
ELSPA have updated their site with February award winners.

No not really. We see the 360 with two games in the top 5 and PS3 no games in the top 10. We also see Lost selling better on Xbox 360 than on Playstation 3 (I see you conveniently left that one out).
Just because PS3 has 1 more game in the top but they are all much lower ranked. Probably just because 360 is a older system, people are buying fewer but more varied PS3 titles, overall 360 selling more software.
They count PS2 games ,but this UK chart is always "Full Price " and most PS2 games are platinum/budget games by now so its normal they doesnt chart .The same happen with many PSP games ,as the ELSPA report showed its share weight in the budget games increased from a 5%(full price ) to a 15% in budget .

No the original chart is still listed within the original post, I am pointing out something more interesting. Consider the 360 still has considerably a larger install base in both the UK and Australia. Lost being ranked one place above the PS3 isn't really interesting it should really be expected for the UK, maybe one should even expect a larger gap.

Then how do you explain all the DS titles that are charting???

It just depends, 360 titles still rank much higher on the list, it's just exclusives this week.
May be some piracy affecting things too.

DS was number one with nearly 25%. In the "ALL PRICES FORMAT SHARE (value)" chart PS3 managed to outsell the PS2 for the first time during the month of January, continuing this in February.
FEBRUARY ALL PRICES FORMAT SHARE (units):

Hopefully Chart-Track will start to include All Prices Format Share charts in their monthly reports from now on.
