* This thread is about the action game genre in general, and not any one action game. I know Bayonetta 2 just came out and has been getting lots of 10's, but it is still built on the mechanics, staples and structures that were introduced years ago, just tuned to profection, but still same "formula" and thats more what I'm focusing on here. If it has made any significant changes to the genre feel free to add in.
In 2001 CAPCOM put out Devil May Cry, an accident game, that went on to not just be one of their more popular brands, but pretty much define the action genre staples... that happens to not had any significant changes since. Wow. Every action game since then follows the same structure, sometimes TOO close where they all seem like the same game with a different developers touch. Personally I find it very hard to to finish action games and get bored of them about halfway through. Justify spending more than $30 bucks on even what can be conisdered to be the best action games is out of the question. They just dont have a lot going for them to keep them interesting.
Just some questions. Dont need to answer ALL of them
1. How do you personally feel about the action genre? ,You think it is fine or needs help?
2. If you used to invest in them but dont anymore why not?
3. If you never really did, why not and what would get you interested?
4. If you invest in them still, what keeps you?
5. New features/direction you think can help improve action games(even if you think their good)?
