But the magazine won't be out for a month.   These new screens do look a lot more detailed, though.

With the popular SOCOM franchise set to make its debut on the PlayStation 3 this year via SOCOM Confrontation, fans are psyched, and we are too. The latest issue of EGM has just arrived in mailboxes across the nation, but we're already looking ahead to our next ish, which will feature an exclusive hands-on look at Confrontation's full 32-player online battles. Hopefully that's enough to get you hungry, but in the mean time we've rounded up a couple brand new screenshots to really whet your appetite.

I just remember dying very quickly in the original SOCOM games, although I did enjoy fireteam bravo 2 for the PSP, this is not a must have for me, but it does look interesting

For a franchise that's been a major hit for the PS2, Sony doesn't seem to be advertising this game as much as they should. There's still thousands of people playing Socom 3 online. They gotta figure out a way to move those folks up to a PS3.

Lol, Socom is like playing CoD4 on Hardcore + Socom is much faster paced.

I still play Combined Assault on my Ps3. :) When summer comes around I'm sure we'll see Socom advertising.

It's not the "true" next Socom.  Socom 1-3 were made by Zipper Interactive, and they are currently worked on an unannounced game that is presumably Socom 4.  Socom Confrontation is an online only title developed by a different dev team.

Either way, Average Joe isn't going to know the difference between Zipper's games and the other dudes if the cover has a fat "SOCOM" on it. I just wish they were only working on Socom 4 instead of this. It's what kinda upset me about them planning to release GT5 and Prologue.
