How does this compare to VGchartz figures?

it doesnt,  because combining consoles and using shipped makes it highly inaccurate and entirely speculation.

M$ seems to be doing fine...

Looks very likely that Xbox One is undertracked globally on VGC.

Good numbers all around.

Not at all. they just released Xbox one on others country (japan, china, russia, others EU, etc...), so of course they have a LOT of shipped consoles.

shelves in most of these countries,  especcially japan,  are stacked high,  too.

"Xbox Platform revenue increased $538 million or 58%"  and "Xbox Platform cost of revenue increased $623 million or 139%"

So the cost of revenue increase more than the reveue itself. Not good.

Wait, so the Xbox division made a loss?

Well that's awkward...

OT: Glad to see that MS's cloud business is doing well

X1 shipment numbers aren't bad, but wasn't a good fraction of shipments geared towards Tier 2 countries and China?

It means that more they sell more money they lose.

Yes, it does. Vgchartz tracks sold so how does that compare to Microsofts shipped figures?

Good numbers from Microsoft, as always, not so good for Xbox.... 2'4m shipped...., around 1'5-2'0m for Xbox One in the quarter where it launched in 28 countries more, not so good. Around 7'5-8'0m shipped globally, probably around 1'5m in the channel so...., around 6'0-6'5 mill sold to consumers. A little bit undertracked here in VGC maybe, but not by much.

Xbox One will probably ship 3-4 mill for the rest of the year so Microsoft will probably announce 10 mill shipped before 2015, but actual sales won't probably reach that figure until January or February 2015.

No it means the costs associated with releases in more countries is expensive and not unexpected. Selling more would actually be better for them as many of those costs are fixed and hence don't reoccur with increased sales.

Nope. The most logical conclusion to these numbers is that X360 still genarate a good amount of profit but they have been eaten by the XO sales. But they are still putting a profit.
