Forums - Gaming - How long will you depend of Metacritics?

Dkctf is as good as rayman Legends and 2d plataformers are the best kind of game.

Só, screw metacritics.

I'll never understand why people keeps looking at reviews.
They're opinions, the guy that's reviewing the games doesn't have your tastes and your opinion so there's a chance that he likes the game and you don't.... and then there's also that "we had to give high scores for publishers that pay us for banners" problem.
Playing a demo or watching a gameplay sample video is always the best way.

Hey don't click here ! It's creepy !!

I want a PlayStation All-Stars Sequel ! Come on Sony, stop making too many shooters !

I'll make a better signature when I'll have time to do it...

Time moved on and not only graphics get better but content is getting more, variety is getting more and this what also counts in evolution of gaming: the requirements rise, too, and it is good that they rise, in my opinion.

A game that is designed to just be accellerate and break may be a fun challenging game  is true, yes, but it would never get high reviews because it is surely lacking in gameplay and variety.

Agree with you on the former, one of my favourite games ever, Devil Dice, may not even warrant a full priced release anymore and would be download only. Yet surely it would still review high?

I just think Reviews are weird anyway, broken. While the games in themselves are not comparable, IGN reviewed Angry Birds Star Wars 88/100, they gave Destiny 78/100.

Hmm, pie.

and some of the reviewer are fucking  the devs...

but if u need reviews, look at the scores and do some math.  a useable score has the most reviews in the same area. not 5  lot below and 5 alot above.   my biggest problem is that they are using a bd method to get the scores...

I don't rely on game reviews to help me buy games. I don't even check reviews or read them at all. I just read posts here regarding the scores. A game can get a 5 review score and if I'm interested in it I'll still get it.There are many highly scored games that I've disliked (Skyrim, Valkyria Chronicles, etc.) and many low scoring games that I've loved (Heavenly Sword, Rise of The Argonauts, etc). To each his own.

I've seen far too many games get points docked because the reviewer just sucked at it.

No thanks.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

I never did! I read a couple reviews here and there for unknown games to me but most of the time i come up with my own judgement first. Alot of users should try it, coming up with my own opinion of a game first hand is actually bliss.

Never understood the mentality of "Its getting a 75 on metacritic?...thats dissapointing maybe i shouldnt get the game after all"

I see many threads about a games metacritic score when it releases and the posts are quite sad.

It shows how many sites will give it a different score with different opinions.
It also shows which sites are trustable.
But, YES! The only person should decide is you, but those reviews could have a big impact on your choice.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Never relied on metacritic, just follow my gut. By and large it hasn't let me down.

People should just learn to accept lower scores, as long as they are explained in the review, so that each gamer can decide whether something considered a flaw by the reviewer it is for them too, and even if it is, if it's forgivable or not.
If Charlie Brooker wrote that he lowered a RPG score just because it was again the same usual fantasy stuff with mages and goblins, that he hated by then after having played so many, but the other aspects of the game were fine, I just knew that the game could be totally fine for my tastes and I just had to add some points to his score to get the one suitable for my tastes. Also, thanks to his rants I ended up giving Fallout 2 a try and it was a revelation, a RPG could exist without being fantasy themed and it could be absolutely awesome too.
Actually, he had such an outrageous and even sick humour reviewing and burying totally crappy games that I was so tempted to play them too, for teh LULZ.
OTOH, a review badly written and badly justifying, if any, the final score, should be considered crap and ignored.
