Forums - Sony Discussion - The Order: 1886: Sony's Soulless Answer to Gears of War - IB Times

Honestly I've failed to understand the hype for this game from day 1. Nothing about it looked like a winning new IP to me, rather just shallow graphic whoring from Sony in regards to PS4's technical superiority . Great graphics by itself never have and never will justify a game's existence though. And the closer we get and hear reactions from those who have played it seem to just make my suspicions on this game's true purpose all the more likely.

The hype comes from the fact that this game has incredible atmosphere, creative weapons, werewolves and the fact that its being developed by Ready At Dawn (whose games have got 85, 86 and 92 on Metacritic).

I didn't know it was a PlayStation Exclusive...
Still I'm not interested on it, I played too many shooters last gen, so my interest in this genre is completely gone.

Hey don't click here ! It's creepy !!

I want a PlayStation All-Stars Sequel ! Come on Sony, stop making too many shooters !

I'll make a better signature when I'll have time to do it...

Ryse flopped and MS allowed it to be released on Steam, I wonder if Sony would do the same if this game lives up to its feedback.

The journalist really is misinformed, this game is in no way Sony's answer to Gears. This game is slower-paced, much more atmospheric, has more horror, more focus on story, more creative weapons and does not have multiplayer or co-op. The only similarity between The Order: 1886 and Gears Of War is that they are both third-person shooters.

Looks like another TPS to me. Dunno what people see in this game other than its a PS exclusive.

So because it's a tps we should just assume it's bad? How about waiting for the reviews and/or playing it for youself before judging. I don't know if the gameplay will be good or bad but I reckon it will be decent. Prob bnot a day one purchase if the reviews are not stellar but once it drops 10/20 euro I'll be over it like a rash as long as it's half decent.

I'll wait for the reviews. Honestly, this early in the gen I'm just looking for a couple of graphical showcases, anyway.  That's why I bought Ryse (which actually didn't suck).

Personaly, if you release a demo it's to show what people should expect from your game. Ryse was bashed to no end for it's repetitive game play and QTEs and Crytek tried to adjust a few things but it couldn't stop people from saying the game would be awful even though they never played the game and it still wasn't released at the time.

I'm the kind that likes teamed based campaigns and I also thought TO would be multiplayer based when I first saw the four paladins but ehh, a big disapointment imo. RI still like the settings a lot and can't wait to get my hands on it.

Considering it's next gen they relly should of had 2-4 player co-op. At least they will have something new to add to the sequel.

Just to give you some info The Order: 1886's developer Ready At Dawn Studio has developed three games which scored 85, 86 and 92 on Metacritic.

Crytek are not even comparable.

Thanks...I guess.

*edit* Hey, I just looked up Ready At Dawn's track record.  Pretty much everything they've done is somebody else's IP.  Not bashing them or anything and I'm already a PS4 owner with plans to buy The Order: 1886 but C'mon!!  Some PSP (I own all of the PSP GoW games and the PS3 collection, btw) games and a couple of re-releases don't make them a powerhouse in the gaming industry.  The Order is going to be their true test.  Like I said, I'm just looking for a graphical showcase and The Order appears to be just that.  I'll be happy unless it gets terrible reviews.
