Personally I know i'll get rocked by people on here since I barely played Melee and the original was way too long ago. But this is going to be real interesting if a week before release we've got a grudge match between a user and a mod being planned.
Smash and Street Fighter will always be more popular because they have a better emotional connection to American culture or American influenced cultures; the game design and characters are just more likeable and interesting. I never really cared about the wierdo characters from the KoF series. Smash also has a different playing style because it focuses on other things instead of focusing on technical button combos like 'traditional' fighters. But, saying that game A is better then Smash just because it has more exploitable technical combos is clear biased thinking; more of something doesn't necessarily mean better, it just depends on your point of view and what your individual needs/tastes are. For example, another thing that Smash and Street Fighter have over KoF is better/more graphics and this is why they will always be more popular then KoF, because in alot of people's viewpoints having nice 3D graphics is 'more' graphics and thus provides for a more balanced experience since art is important to them; from their point of view KoF looks like it's still stuck in the 90's.
| Riot Of The Blood said: @Words Of Wisdom: Could you explain what's going on in those youtube videos? What advanced techniques are beeing used in those vids? They all look like simple combos that can be executed easily. The button inputs in Smash Brothers aren't exactly complexed. Meh, I'll correct this post later... Got little bit lazy. |
What do you define as complex?
SSB moves do not require elaborate button combinations (not that 236+B is elaborate...) if that's what you mean.
As for the videos, the second video is of two of the world's best Melee players (Ken and Aniki). If do not see the skill shown in that video then you likely don't know enough about Melee recognize the difference between someone who is skilled and someone who is unskilled.
