Artistic all the way. Photorealism is boring. If I wanted photorealism, I'd go outside. (And, before you say something, I often do. ;) )

That's a weak argument, it's no different than people saying "Well, if I want to work out/play sports, I will go to the gym, instead of playing Wiifit/Wiisport"

I like both, though I'd want at least a bit of a stylized look in the more realistic games (i.e. the Helghast in Killzone).

That's a pretty tough question but considering Ratchet is my favorite game I guess I'd say artistic but then you have games like Quake, Counter Strike and Company of Heroes.

So I'd have to say
Console: artistic
PC: Realistic

@Cool:

Ratchet is more of a realistic styled game than an artistic one.

can u please take that back?  in what way does the bright colorful design and shiny coat of paint on ratchet seem realistic?

as long as nothing holds a candle to okami, then artistic games all the way.

Is that what you really wanted to say? You're making a strawman argument against a preference?

I Prefer the Artistic games over the Realistic games

Systems I own (Games)

Sega: Dreamcast (40) , Saturn (25), Genesis (50), Masters System (10), Game Gear (20)

Sony: PS1 (8), PS2 (60) , PS3 (5), PSP (12)

Atari: 2600 (18) , 7800 (10), Lynx (10)

I am not really sure what counts as realistic. Why does an epic colorful science fiction game like halo count as realistic .

Artistic ... totally :D

Where does a game like BioShock pigeonhole itself? It's a fair mix of both.

I always thought if Bioshock as more realistic game than artistic.

Bioshock is as realistic as a game can get. It's futuristic and fictional, but it's meant to look real. Just check out some of the awesome water effects.

You realize that BioShock takes place in 1960, right?

Anyway, what is the definition of "artistic"? There are few games I have seen of late that have more artistic style than BioShock.
