Forums - Sales - I am back :)

Hello all :)

I left three weeks ago because the reason I was mainly here to see how well the PS3 was standing up in the market, and now that it's firmly in second place, I had no real reason to stay.

The PS3 is here to stay, and will be the dominant HD console going forward (all I cared to find out).

Anyway, last night I got a Wii. It's my first Nintendo sense the Super NES. I have to say that I am very pleased with it. It's tiny, and it's simple. The style reminds me of the old days (like the power and display connector).

I have a few questions though. Is there a way to calibrate the pointer so that the cursor is actually where I point? It doesn't really matter at the moment, but if I ever get the gun, I will want it to work that way.

Oh, and being I have never really looked too much into the Wii, is there something I should do that I don't know? For example, in the PS3, the default settings for an HDTV should be tweaked. If you don’t not look at forums all the time, you would never know this.

So, what should I know about the Wii that most owners don't know if they don't research the hell out of it?

Thanks in advance!

^ STOP POSTING...

OT: Uhh...I think I remember you...Do you find giving me your SS number so I get to know you better? XD

Set the Wii to 480p in the settings, as well as wide screen.

And unfortunately there is not a global calibration for the pointer.  Some games you can calibrate it specifically for the game.

There is no way to calibrate the pointer built into the system itself. However, I have heard that some of the gun games allow you to calibrate the pointer when you start the game up.

As for one thing to know. I can't really think of anything other than there are some really great games, just maybe in some genre's that you don't typically play.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

This should be your thread Title.

"Back off, man. I'm a scientist."

Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked.

Thanks. I did those things last night, and was surprised at how well it looks on an HD-TV. I also bought the component cables.

Good to know about the calibration, thanks. I currently only have Wii Sports and Wii Play (I got a second controller and a nun chuck),

I only bought the system for WiiFitt when it comes out. I figured if I waited until then, it would take me 6 months to find one. It took me a month as it is. I have a friend who has a ton of games for the Wii, so I will be borrowing a few and playing them. Currently the only games I am interested in are SMG and Metroid Prime. Anything else that you think a nontraditional Nintendo gamer would like?

EDIT: Not sure "nontraditional Nintendo" is the right thing, I mean someone who usualy is not interested in Nintendo games.

Actually, never mind. The title has nothing to do with the questions I am asking now. I will post a new thread and ask them again.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Welcome back, Mafoo. I thought your farewell was a little premature. ;)

I'll save my Wii game recommendations for your next thread.
