It's sad because they can't rely on word of mouth to sell it like Ps4 can. It's sad because they are so desperate to attach their name to a third party that they are willing to risk breaching contracts and risk lawsuits. Instead of offering a good first party. Yeah people in forums are talking about this but it's not going to get any of them to buy it. If anything its going to push people away. It's not clever it's desperate and dishonest, and frankly that's why its so funny. Because at this point they are squirming are willing to do anything.

Yeah because Sony don't advertise the PS4 at all do they? Nope, not at all. Well, you know other than all those TV and sponsorship deals, many more than Microsoft seem to do (at least here in Europe anyway).

It's just marketing like every other company on the planet does so just

I haven't seen a single one yet since the console launch here in the US. Haven't seen one for Destiny on TV. Only ads I see are in gamestop. Still see the occasional Titanfall ad on tv tho. Also your image is broken, just so ya know.

EDIT: Also its not like marketing anyone else does. This type of marketing is truly desperate, overtly dishonest(which will end up driving customers away) and again scraping the bottom of the barrel.

It's changed to:

Hi. There are some great Xbox One offers available at the moment. Please check with retailers for more information.

So they had to back off before it got serious.

Wise move. The first one just sounded petty and hypocritical.
Not sure if doing this will fly with Sony's lawyers regardless, but these are much more thought out choice of words here.

They also removed the links to the retailers. Seems like MS smelled Sonys lawyers and fled.

I quite like this as a clever marketing move.

My my this thread was interesting.

Got to add this was this bad pr on their part it as it makes then look weak and like sour losers, it seems MS is continuing to make bad decisions no matter how small they may be. The possibility at this becoming a court issue really makes it a bad choice on their part. Just all around stupid unless its April fools, but its not. Even on that day id expect better from one of the big 3 in gaming.

Hmmm, well as I said I don't know about the US. But in the UK and Europe PS4 gets plenty of advertising.

about the image, I'll try and fix that. Thanks for the heads up

I have no doubt it does in the UK. I think Sony is pushing most of their resources there, and MS is pushing most of their in US which is probably why I've seen more ads for XB1 and not realy many in while from Sony. Did see a Wii U ad the other day which was kind of refreshing. Was for MK8 tho.

No, it's probably because they got a cease and desist letter from someone.

Activision most likely asked them to cease and desist, possibly at the request of Sony. The intent of the spots was very clear and a legal battle would have been pointless. I'm sure they never intended to argue if Activision protested.

Personally, I don't think this was a very good idea. They risked straining their relationship with Activision, which is obviously very valuable to them. They also look more than a bit hypocritical, as exclusive advertising deals are something Microsoft has invested in heavily. It could even be said that the move is one of desperation, as they attempt to slow down the Playstation/Destiny juggernaut.

I don't see this as a big deal in any shape or form but I think Microsoft comes out of this looking a bit worse than they did before.

This is more about them not being able to take a loss well.

Ahh is this supposed to be funny or what?

Add me if u want :)

Sony should try this tactic with Assassin's Creed Unity or even Rise of the Tomb Raider. Bloody thieves!
